Just wondering: Is it against the rules to equip stolen armor while making your getaway? Is it always acceptable, only acceptable when armor is high durability, or unacceptable?

That is acceptable. This rule was meant to prevent people from crafting all of someone's diamonds into diamond hoes, splashing down potions for no reason, ect. You can use anything you raid in PvP at anytime.
