No Plans to Implement Allow item scamming

Hi there, I think we should allow this because what is the point of allowing town scamming but not item scamming, town scamming is much more harmful than item scamming because either way you are losing a lot of money or everything that you have worked on. So apparently town scamming is allowed but item scamming isn't? It's a pretty stupid idea and if you're gonna allow town scamming then why not just allow item scamming as well. There is still a lot of item scamming going on that has happened in the past such as the duplicates of fang lores and etc sold by players which somehow is allowed but not scamming someone out of their money is.

The dev team created the /trade system to prevent this, but I feel it should be a consequence for players who do not trade items through the /trade system at spawn. I get that you guys want loka to be safer and everything, but if you're not going to allow item scamming, then you shouldn't allow town scamming at all. Or any kind of scamming at that point.

I’m not entirely sure what you mean with this post, there is no “no scamming rule” relating to items. There is a rule about spawn stealing, but your post seems to be talking about “scamming” someone in another way, not using the trade feature. I don’t know what it’s referring to as there is no “stealing/ scamming” rule that is enforced by admins outside of town betrayal, and, in some cases undoing sales between players of items gained by town betrayal, duping, or some other exploit/rule break.

If you could elaborate more on what specifically your post is about that would help.

real, loka left it up to the players if town scamming was allowed and they said it should be. they never made a poll though on item scamming because it obv isn't present enough in loka. just my thoughts though

The reason we added /trade was so that we could eventually remove the rule against spawn stealing entirely. The rule became too tedious to enforce but we still wanted to encourage trading. If we only removed the rule without adding /trade then players would be a lot more hesitant to make trades. That doesn't align well with how we want Loka's economy to function given the focus on biome control and restricted resources.

If players are trading via chests then we'll probably wind up just revoking container access perms at spawn.

In response to town scamming: admins do help out by middle manning those trades if you so please... Additionally, item scamming is not illegal, it's just not practical due to how trade works. Regardless, I think it's probably fair to second Skuhoo on removing container permissions at spawn for people to prevent the remainder of stealing and scamming that lingers if that's something that's common.

We'd likely have to be certain /trade was fully functional before doing that. It's probably one of the reasons we ignore that some containers work for trades at spawn atm.
