I'd like to apologize in advance for anything that sounds egotistical in this application. These applications are supposed to be about espousing and expounding upon your own personal qualifications, and sometimes that comes across as arrogant. Again, I'm sorry for any of that which may present itself. I'm also planning on being completely honest in this application, since I want to make it as sincere and informative as possible. If you have a problem with that, have a nice day.
I've been playing on Loka for about seven months now, and my server experience has been a rather unique one. I first joined the server early in the afternoon on April 15th, 2012, and was quickly snatched up by a town called Capital City. A few hours later I was thrust into the longest running and bloodiest war that the server has ever seen. I had bought minecraft the day before, and I knew virtually nothing about anything. That conflict has molded and defined my character on this server, and I would no doubt be a very different person had that conflict never occurred.
I've made many friends, and more than a few enemies as well. Recently I've had the odd experience of having people I respect and admire consider me their enemy. Some of my best friends include Epicbacon99, andrekeroxd, capminecraft9, Lucifer09, computern, Defgnww, and Leasaur.
I'd like to thank the people who've been patient enough to read the long messages I've sent them outlining my problems and worries, as well as send me helpful responses, who are Magpieman, Cryptite, MrAlchemy, asymptonic, and Zor95.
Age: I'll be 16 next month.
Current rank: Slicer
Which rank you are applying for: Sentry
What you think is expected of this rank: Generally taking up the slack for full admins; doing most or all of the basic chat moderation, dealing with people using xray texture packs and client side mods, helping new players adjust to the server and be informed of the rules, etc. Sentries are also expected to behave a little better than the average player; not cursing, not behaving inappropriately, being professional in their capacity as an admin, etc.
Why you think you should become this rank: I suppose the biggest reason why I ought to become a Sentry doesn't have anything to do with my knowledge or other qualifications like that; what makes a great Sentry is someone who genuinely cares about the server and has a streak of compassion for new players and the community as a whole. Besides that, though, I have extensive knowledge of the rules and their various applications. I took an active role in an extremely long-running war that took place largely during a time when bug exploitation was legal; as a result I'm aware of most of the major exploits and how they work. Over the course of several months I've had multiple admins quiz me on what I would do in various scenarios as a sentry, and I've participated in several xray-hunts and general instances of admin work that did not require admin powers. Some time in June I was having one of my many conversations with Zor, and he let slip that he thought I had some shred of admin potential. I told him I had no experience as an admin, and he said that was a plus; he expressed his dislike of people who had been admins on other servers and had an entitlement complex on the subject. Numerous other people have indicated I ought to be a Sentry, such as Epicbacon99, MrAlchemy, computern, Cryptite, and nameless others I can't remember but at one time could list. Additionally, I'm aware of the vast majority of server history, all the way from the founding of Church Town to the last time I logged in. Over my many months of activity on the server I've learned to stay calm and internally calculate situations as they present themselves; I'm not likely to start raging in the chat or otherwise embarrass myself and others. I'm an active citizen of Asgard, and an honorary resident of several other towns including Century, Solitude, Yggdrasil, and Vorkuta.
When you started playing on the server: April 15th, 2012
Time zone in relation to GMT: CST (-6:00)
How often do you play (hours a day/week): At least two hours a day, but I average a fair deal more than that.
Again I'd like to thank my friends and mentors on the server, and express my profound love of Loka and the community as a whole. Thank you very much for having considered my application.
