Balak was a feature added along the conquest 3 update several years ago. Around the time of its addition it was fresh, and fixed quite a few problems with conquest. Unfortunately, it brought some unintended consequences as a result:
Everyone has gathered into one alliance
Traditionally there were always two sides: Cov and Anti-Cov. These sides chose to fight in many different towns along many different continents. Usually at least two continents had some sort of struggle between Anti-cov and covenant. Now there is just no reason to establish a new town outside of your home alliance’s continent. Without the full force of your alliance, there is no chance you will have access to the extremely powerful balak buffs, and there will likely be no fun fighting elsewhere. The fights remain and stay on Balak only, and with a maximum of one balak fight per day, the lack of fights can become quite boring, especially to a new player.
Continents are ded
Since everyone is in one town, there are no continents fighting. Continent pvp is essentially non-existent as all the continent pvp has been transferred to balak. Continent pvp is generally more fun for reasons below
Loka is not balanced for Balak
Loka’s sweet spot is 20v20 or lower, more like 10v10. The core health doesn't scale, the server lags terribly, and it is impossible to knock 60 people off a charge that can last 30 seconds and the list continues. Once your opponent gets into the core, there is nothing you can do even if you drop half the other team. Loka is far more balanced towards smaller numbered continental fights.
So in order to restore continental pvp, I feel that Balak needs to be addressed. Here are some solutions I thought of to fix this:
Remove Balak buffs and use Balak to determine World Capital.
Balak made sense as a way of determining world capital. However, the buffs are far too powerful to the point where it is very beneficial to tag along with a greater power for a chance to get the buffs. There are zero chances on your own, and you have a greater chance when apart of one of the big alliances (WF or Covenant)
Use Balak as a beachhead island
Keep the buffs, but allow entire continents to fight over the buffs. This could be interesting as for example two fighting garaman powers might temporarily work together to win world capital and share the balak buffs. This allows for both the capital of the continent to win( as they would win the world cap) and encourages people to at least remain on their continent.
Allow coalitions to include non-cap towns on other continents
Out of my three ideas, this is the one I dislike the most but I decided I would keep it in there. Allow an alliance on balak to include one (or two or however many seems balanced) non-capital towns per alliance. This would make it so Balak would remain an extension of the cov v. wf war, but continent pvp could still occur. This would allow people to remain competitive on Balak whilst still being able to fight on their continent.
Balak has eliminated continental fighting and turned the server into essentially a daily reins fight which the server, physically and mechanically cannot handle. There are no politics, no reins, nothing special about these Balak fights.
