Suggestion Black dye

I've been wanting an alternative way to gather black dye for years. I don't think waiting for squids to spawn is a fun mechanic when compared to how interesting other methods of gathering dye are.

The other "more interesting" methods:
  • picking flowers
  • mining lapis
  • afking cactus/bonemeal farms
Truly exhilarating gameplay. If the issue with black dye is that squids aren't spawning enough then the first solution would probably just be to increase squid spawns.

I sense that you're joking but these are all wayyyy more fun than waiting for squids to spawn
Farming ink sacs would be the most fun dye to collect if squids spawned often enough, which is why I said we should probably boost squid spawns. It'd certainly be a lot more fun than crafting coal into black dye

The spawns are fine, where they spawn most at is an issue. You can get a stack using looting 3 at the Garaman docks in less than 10 minutes. However, I’ve been ganked the last few times I’ve went because they don’t actually spawn within docks boundary themselves and for more to load you need to to leave the chunk and come back in. I don’t really know what you mean by boring because it’s not like you have to afk or sit in one spot, you have to actually move around.

Perhaps you and I have different ideas of fun, but the ocean (for now) isn't my best description of exciting gameplay.

When compared to:
picking flowers
Exploring a populated, active world with almost guaranteed player interaction.
mining lapis
Mining in an entirely custom biome, usually crawling with players.
afking cactus
Designing industry...
bonemeal farms
We shouldn't be considering bonemeal exploits since they're not an intended feature or method. If some flower exploits are ever patched for considerable amounts of time, I think there would be more push for dyes/plants to be obtainable through more PVE content.

Boring as in you're just looking at water

Thats fine for like pearl gates or books but if you actually need dyes for blocks like black concrete then it will take forever at these rates you would only be able to get the dye for 3k blocks per hour and most big projects will take like 30k blocks
