So, appearently bonemeal has been turned off because Crypt can't figure out a way to have it only grow grass. Well, I suggest the we make foreign flowers "weeds" and when you break it you get a chat message "That's a weed!" and nothing drops.

That could be cool (although then you could use bonemeal to get flowers for landscaping, approximately where you would want them). You can still get grass with shears and plant it (but no way to grow it). Another alternative would be to have grass as a farm industry product.

you could get dyes from it
