Dawn of a Coming Era...

A young women scaled the sheer oak wood walls of her town, ascending the glass prism to watch the sun rise over the ice plains. She hugged her legs, resting her chin on her crossed over forearms. The pale greys and yellows of dawn reached out over the snow-covered prairie. What a time to live in Loka, she thought. Times of peace where rare in this realm. It seemed like there wasn't such a thing, peace. In the past anyways. There was never a long time of peace, always preparation for the next fight in the short relief until one side mobilized again.

Now, now was different. People didn't fight, if anything the only hostility was only between the old, bitter rivals, those who are still here anyways. She rarely had to lift a sword or draw her bow, and in many ways she was grateful for that. However she also longed for those times.

When people where at each others throats things seemed simpler. Kill or be kill, hoard resources before an enemy could. Now things are complicated. Alliances between great nations where formed, former allies became tainted with red and made into bitter enemies. Large portions of land were cut off from the nomads. Land with abundant resources that only the enemy could benefit from.

Enemy, what an ugly word. An empty, hallow collection of letters that label someone as something you thought they couldn't be. People you once new, shared your hopes, your dreams, gone from your life because of one word.

Now where was she. Alone, her pride a lonely ghost town. New houses stand empty, homes for people who would never come. Old friends are still there, but they have moved on. They always move on. She always had a hard time letting people into her heart. Trust was a delicate thing, fragile, like the petals of a flower.

She was never the friendliest person as well. That part of her she always hated. Maybe it was because she grew alone in solitude. Her only companions were her elders. She had many skills, but being graceful with words was never one of them, especially when strong emotions claimed her thoughts.

All she wanted to do was help, but she would always hurt people instead. Maybe being alone was her fate. If she never engaged in another conflict, need, or life, she couldn't hurt them. Her thoughts were a haven just as much a prison.

She now stood on the sharp glass edge. The sun was now a hands width over the horizon. She broke through the glass and edged her way down into the quite, perfect town she built for people that were long gone, both dead and alive.

By midday she watched the sun crawl across the sky. She knew that one day things would change. It didn't matter if it was for the worse or for the better, as long as she had something to stride towards. Something with weight and true meaning. Something simple to hope for.

The first word that came to mind was happiness. But only the loved and sound of mind could be so lucky as to have that. Lapis Lazuli crystals were known for their luck, but the only luck she was bless with was the ability to find it in the depths of rock and stone.
