Do you want a nether reset?

I will briefly explain both arguments, and we would like to know whether you want the nether to reset or not. Please post your own arguments and reasons for your view bellow, as well as voting in the poll. Please continue to check this thread as people may put arguments bellow that may make you want to change your mind.

The argument for reseting the nether is that with the new mc update nether quartz is being added, players may need to walk a long way out in the nether to find some. We are also adding nether protection for towns in the next update and some towns nether protection could encompass things other players have built in the nether. (and it would then be property of the town) The other thing is this is our last chance to reset the nether for a very long time because with town nether protection comes more buildings in the nether, which we do not want lose, and copying them to a new nether would be a pain. Finally the nether spawn is in a bit of a mess and having a nice fresh nether spawn can only be a good thing.

The argument against a reset is that people would end up mining all over the area near spawn to get nether quartz and this could make the nether look very ugly. Also a nether reset would mean any builds in there would get deleted however we would give you a 2 week warning so you can remove any valuables from the nether.

The nether already has a lot built in it. Hc and cath both have a lot there, there's at least 3 blaze grinders, spawn is in progress, the nether hub, and I'm sure there's more. It would suck to lose all of the stuff that is already built. I also like the idea of having to travel for nether quartz ore. It gives an otherwise common block a fair amount of value.

If we do keep the nether I would request that Crypt extend nether protection (a 3rd time?!! Really?? Yup.) to have a radius of 40. This goes a few blocks over spawn protection, but would allow me to fix up all the griefing and assist in the development of paths to get out of the barricade that will be town protection.

I may also request a few towns give me temporary perms for the nether.
(at least those that don't want to purposely make travel a complete pain)

With the new nether generation in 1.5 spawn wouldn't really fit anywhere so I might as well just build a new one. Perhaps this summer or whenever 1.6 is released we can reset it?

At this point many towns have built nether areas it was mentioned when this thread was started that this would be the last chance for awhile and no one really vocalized agreement towards a reset.
