No Plans to Implement For Muted People

Fellow Lokanians,

Probably everyone on the server has a friend who is muted. When you're not in the same town as that person, the only way to talk to them on the server, is trough the public chat. Since that's not really ideal, I came up with a possible solution.
What if muted people could respond to private messages, but not start one themselves. This way the muted people still have a way to communicate to the unmuted people on the server.
This way, you can talk to muted people again only if YOU start the conversation yourself.
I don't know if this is even possible to implement, but lmk what you think.

I get where you're coming from, and for ages I had the same-ish thoughts on it, but I just think the benefits don't outweigh the downsides of it. It's just hard because some permamuted people probably wouldn't try to abuse it, but the rest probably would have a friend or whatever tell someone to DM them, then use it to harass people in DMs. Loka typically tries to push this all into discord (as adawee said), which is a platform which you can sort of "moderate yourself" in that you're able to block people on your own and see nothing they say or do whatsoever (although Loka has /ignore as well).

I know that discord sort of is a compromise to this. But I don't see the downsides in implementing this.
You say muted people will use this to harass people, but I don't see that happening when they can only respond. Meaning that they can't send two messages in a row.
I also think it'd be weird if muted people used this chance to harass people. they'd more likely use is to prove they can change.

It could easily happen if someone tells people to PM the muted player solely so they can in fact harass people.

I don't see what's easy about it, but let's put the possibility for harassment aside. Not all muted people instantly wanna harass someone. And like you said, you can always /ignore

+1 Cuz if you need something from a muted player they will most likely react instantly in game than sending a message on discord.

They could just adapt to using discord cause it is practically their only way to speak or respond
