Guardian [mob] Farms

So I asked Magpie today whether guardian farms would be illegal or not. His first reaction was a yes they will be illegal, and then a "we'll see". Thought I'd open up a thread to discuss them.

My thoughts:

Unlike other mob farms, guardians cannot be [easily] gathered into one place so a farm must kill them near instantly. Therefore, they will not collect and cause lag. They will also not rely on a redstone mechanism to kill, but will mostly rely on gravity and fall damage/lava. There may be some carts involved, but those cause relatively little lag.

The one legitimate concern I could see is that it would make the blocks too accessible. They're nice blocks though and should be available for building so I don't think it would be bad to have a large supply. Plus, a guardian farm is extremely tedious to build. More so than a blaze farm. Also more dangerous.

So I vote yes to guardian farms.

Gold and iron blocks are also pretty nice. If a block being nice was enough to justify autofarms then this wouldn't be an issue.

Otherwise I agree with most everything you've said here. It's really just up to how difficult Crypt thinks it ought to be to get these particular blocks. Like you said, it's already pretty difficult to set up a farm for them, and a auto-guardian farm would cause a lot less lag than, say, an auto-iron golem farm.

Meanwhile I'm just waiting for someone to drag an elder guardian back to their town for a lazer defense system.

Ew. Maybe as an accent but I'd never build with iron or gold.

Also to be fair those are currency.

That is one bit of torture that I will never subject myself to, lol

I don't see an issue with them. They're not gonna cause any more lag than other monuments do when people are raiding them or farming their blocks unless someone makes some ridiculous redstone contraption. I won't mention names on that one but it rhymes with Opyc.

I'm in favor of whatever farms people want to make for these. They make it simpler to farm the new blocks. Not to mention, obby gens are obsolete, so if we're concerned with market stimulus, that's gonna hit hard and heavy.

Although there is of course the difference in that gold and iron can be used as gen fuel while the guardian ones can't.

I'm in favour of this, absolutely. Particularly as it seems it's by no means necessary to make a lag-fuelling redstone monstrosity.

I'm in favour too. Personally I really like the new ocean monument blocks, I think that it would be great to be able to have tons of them for large builds.
Also it would make a really good fish farm.

Honestly the only thing that needs to changed would be to change the ore exchanger to accept gold ore and iron ore. This would allow players to use gold and iron farms to improve they town builds and not allow them to use the ingots from farms to fuel their gens.
