New Gultch Bug

So we played a game of gultch yesterday but unfortunately there was a pretty big bug that popped up. In the middle of the game one of our members disconnected from the server. they quickly logged back in and tried to rejoin. Well, while they had disconnected we asked others to join so the game could continue (not knowing whether our player would return or not). So a new players joined our team and it was again 3v3. Now here is where the problem begins. when our member who disconnected returned they couldn't get in until someone else new joined. So now our old player who was already a higher level is prevented from playing even though they had logged back on and tried to rejoin only about 10 seconds after being disconnected. Once another player did agree to join though (this would make it 4v4) our player got put on the other team. And so now its a 4v4 fight with two new players on our side and 4 level 10 and higher players on their side.

This is a dense wall of text but hopefully this makes some sense. I can try to explain it further as well if it isn't quite clear.

The problem is, unlike League of Legends where your slot is reserved for the whole game, we frequently have problems with people disconnecting either on purpose or accidentally and then never returning. We could, I suppose, reserve your team slot for a couple minutes; giving you a better chance to get back in, but we have to be able to let new people in so there's at least a chance the teams can be balanced.

I see the point that they're then behind because they're level 1, but I think you'll notice that as the game progresses, it becomes much quicker to level from 1 to X, so it's pretty quick for somebody to catch up if they Jungle a bit.

At the very least when a player switches in to replace a new members could they "inherit" the level of the player who left? This way even in our game, it would have been fair as the level distribution wouldn't have been completely skewed. We had a massive amount of early game momentum but the tables turned and we got crushed late game.

Obviously the person who left would lose their levels in this system but it is meant to keep the game fair for the majority as opposed to the minority of players.

Could do that or give new joins the 1st quartile of average levels (a little below the current average of everybody's levels). Good idea!
