How You've Found Loka

Just a thread to share stories on how we stumbled onto the Loka server to begin with. It can be simple or complicated, etc, anything is accepted.

For me, it started with my friends being banned from this server called World of Atlas, and I trudged around for many days trying to find a server similar to what it harbors, then I found Loka on PMC, being intrigued by the screenshots of powerful landscapes it has, and getting into it with increasing interest when I explored its features more.

I believe it was the oasis reddit post for me originally. Well, that was my first join (sometime in August of last year I think? maybe a bit later?)

I played for ~10 hours and stopped, then ran into someone mentioning it on reddit again in ~January. Joined, was surprised to find myself in a mine with diamond gear and with a creeping, but not quite placeable sense of deja vu. Then I joined Eldritch. And funnily enough, the month after was the first time we got continent capital.

I take all credit of course.

The night of Thursday, March 28th, 2013, I was scrolling through Minecraft Forums Server List. I came across something called "Loka: The Abandoned World." The latter title sounded so cool, I had to check it out. I hopped on, arrived in the Trainee Course, was greeted by some random guy named Cryptite who said "May the force be with you." I tried to say thanks, but I couldn't talk. ): So I completed the course.

Everything was cool, people were nice for the most part. I decided to join the town of Asgard, although I was told to see if I can survive in the wilds first. So I made a home in the side of a hill right outside the Protection of the Ancients, and started some sort of wanderer refuge. For about a week and a half, I'd invite new players to shelter in my little home.

It was either that day or the day after I was messaged by Defgnw, warning me against trusting a certain player. After that I kept messaging him with questions and he'd answer them and give me advice. One day a creeper got into my hole-in-the-hill, and I blocked myself off in dirt because I was really afraid. Def came and killed it for me.

I don't remember exactly when, but he said something to me along the lines of "if you don't quit, which you probably will because everyone does, I'll give you a tour of my town and give you some supplies."

My reaction to this was basically "You think I'm gonna quit? Ha. Watch me." ....And here I am nearly four years later. :)

The way I stumbled across this great server; like most from December of 2014. Someone by the name of Porpoise...

I have no clue.

Most likely minecraftforums browsing the list (I was looking for pure vanilla servers). Basically by pure chance. I remember joining the first time and greeted by a bunch of people punching each other. There was no spawn protection whatsoever. I ran, made some planks. Hid on a cliffside. Then a player named CoreyP27 had the courtesy of greeting me instead of left clicking my face furiously.

We went to where in our minds felt like far away from spawn. It was probably 400 blocks off (there were no beds and no running in that version of minecraft yet) and it felt far enough... Silly us. Still we busied ourselves with building underground on a cliffside with the material that was closest to block protection in a (almost?) full vanilla server: obsidian.

And it came to past that the player xUnkn0wnGhostx (not sure of spelling) was banned after bad deeds done to our modest living quarters and proceeded to add a little drama to the original minecraftforums post of Loka. (Can someone be so kind as to link it here?)

I wish I had thanked CoreyP27 before he vanished without a trace... Always be grateful to the very first person who lands you a hand when you join a new server.

I think it was mid to late october when I saw the Loka advert in MCforums, I read the word "Conquest" and got curious.

I always wanted something like the conquest mechanics that Loka has and went crazy to see how well the server fitted my demand

I joined the server and started walking around Aladra, until I found the port and took the boat to Kalros, went noobing around and tried to learn the server mechanics by myself but it didn't work well, I died and didn't get to pick my things back

Realising that I wouldn't be able to grow without the protection and space provided by a town I just asked in chat if anyone wanted to recruit me, RogueWatermelon from Waterstone invited me to join them and I accepted.

Quickly I started to know the basics of the server, and, despite being rly well treated in Cash's town I wanted to create one of my own

I grabbed my goodies and went to the Ascalonian plains.

I Tried to take a Tgen alone, all by myself, and failed miserably. Then I started asking in chat if anyone wanted to join me and a newbie called Abominatiion agreed to help. Together we were able to win the fight and found Aureum, we also counted with the help provided by Gabrosen, that donated arrows to our cause (National Hero lol).

Abominatiion left right after we defeated the Tgen and was never seen again ;-; wich led me to lead the town alone for a long time

With time, people started joining Aureum and some of them proved to be engaged and productive members, like Garronus and Thorag, that are now my subowners

Well here I am now

Well well look who's here.

Seriously now how are ya? I really don't know you but it looks like a shame if you're still banned from being silly many years ago. Have you tried (honestly and seriously) to ban appeal? That is if you are still banned of course.

Tbh I stumbled across Loka when a friend recommended we check it out. Before hand I was writing commands and building massive space ships for the lols. Tbh after playing for a few hours I got very interested in the server. I've been on ever since.

On the cold night of December 8th, 2016 I was bored and sick of studying for history: then again, what else would an IB student do besides use video games to procrastinate? Hehehe.
Anyways, I was playing on a parkour server at the time, but kept failing at one particular ladder jump. At some point, I got so frustrated I just quit. I decided that I still wanted to play Minecraft, but I needed to find another server. Looking for, and I quote, "Bow and Arrow RPG Minecraft Servers", looking for something kind of along the lines of the WynnCraft server, I came across Loka.
I joined and started on the Intro Course, but was called away for dinner and had to log out. Logging back in, I realized I had bugged the system because I was still classified as being in the Intro Course, but I wasn't in the TGen to be able to finish off. I traveled to Ascalon, as a noob to the server (hehe, I actually remember that I originally thought the continent was called Eldritch just because of how much they owned of it) and tried gathering some materials. I wanted to travel to Aureum to see if I could find out how to join a town, but I died at what I suppose was an inhibitor (I don't exactly remember, but there was an Iron golem and it was scary ;-;).
Another player had joined the server at the time (I don't remember who ;-;) and the greatest person I've met to date responded with a Welcoming message. That player was Jedoi!! :D
Anyways, Jed said that if the new player had a question, to just ask her. Perfect! Time for me to figure out what was going on with my life >.<
Asking for help, she tp'ed to me, gave me some cooked food, and was vanished but basically became my guardian angel. It was still night in Ascalon, so she was also kind enough to kill the mobs of the area...but I still died because I was a noob...
Anyways, back at Aladra, with more food (thanks Jed! The cooked chicken was delicious!) Jed and I got on the North Star and traveled to Kalros. Walking upon the Hilo Highway, I saw a bright orange light shining in the sky. Questioning it (while Jed continued welcoming new players to Loka), I started walking towards it. Apparently, it was a TGen to Auru territory. Asking about Auru, Jed gave me a tour of the town and the spire. Noticing a sign for a Historian's Guild, and asking how I could join it, I also asked if I could somehow join Auru. I wasn't mad, Jed had helped me so much just in that hour alone, I decided I'd want to be a town member of someone who was so nice and caring (surprise, apparently I'm her husband in lore now ;-;).
Knowing how much I was interested in Lore, Jedoi sent me four links to Lore Stories on the forums over discord: Iyo's Sickholm Saga and Shadows under the Spire, a story about the history of Auru (which I think Ajaxan wrote, but I could be wrong), and Jed's own Basics to Lokan Lore. I went into a small corner of Aladra, by the farms, went afk to start reading some of this stuff while still talking to Jed and, about 30~45 minutes into my reading session, I was spammed by Jed that Crypt was on and he was going to fix all of my problems.
A quick relog later, an invite from Xovious, and an excited cheer from all around, and I was a full functioning member of Auru and Loka!

As you can see, by Gain His Trust on the Lore Forums, I'm still here, and I'm not leaving anytime soon! :D Thanks for being so welcoming to a new player. It's been a blast over the past month and a half, and I can't wait to get to the 4 year marker that Jed's coming up on, and all the events and experiences bound to come with it ;)
