So for those who have never played any big MMORPG ill briefly explain what instance dungeons are
Basically its any form of dungeon I.e Blackrock Spire from WoW
But the special thing about instance dungeons is they can be immensely large or complex
but have little to no effect on the server.
The idea is offline in a folder you've got a separate world save which would contain said dungeon.
And whenever players approach the entrance to the dungeon in the live world, they are added to a queue and then eventually teleported to a freshly generated version
of the dungeon that is only open while a party of people is inside.
Adding Instance dungeons say instead of regular dungeons is that they greatly reduce the resources necessary.
And add a great deal of expand-ability when it comes to custom items.
Give players a reason to complete these dungeons! I.e
Boss Exclusive Drops
Exp and monetary reward
More server depth
And adds room for more lore to the world so that it is more immersive \
Also allows for multiple parties to be in the "same" dungeon at the same time, just in different instances of it.
And lastly would encourage players to go out and explore, or to conquer new territory
