We're going to start making quick, ~30s videos detailing how bits of Loka works. What would you say is the most important video(s) to be making. You can have two votes, top two will get made first.

Basically what do you think people have the hardest time learning about and what videos would be our biggest wins to make about features of Loka!

I'd say Boats and Shards first, because that's what new players have to figure out first.

For other, I think there should be a short video about how to get by on Loka on the first day and first few weeks. Here is a rough sketch of what it might include:

• Choose a continent to set up a base on.
• Check out the map on the website.
• Resources are restricted by continent and by biome. (Link to list of what is restricted to what?)
• Clarify what restricted means (one can only find things in certain places and grow/breed things in certain places).
• Give advice on joining towns (some might accept a new player early on; others want to see him or her play on the server for a while (maybe even long enough to become a nomad); one can ask in public chat to join towns, but avoid spamming with requests).
• Making a town requires two other players whom one has to find on one's own (link to video on towns)
• Mob spawning is amped up and brutal. Biomes with a lot of tree cover are tough, even at day time, without good gear. Take a crafted boat around the shores to find a good spot. Travel by day, gathering resources, and mine at night.
• Have a brief mention of what territory protection means regarding resource acquisition
• Encourage new players to ask for help (it would be nice if there were a website page (see below) to link them to).

It seems to me that new players would want one such video, maybe two minutes long, rather than a bunch of short videos. The videos, more in-depth on the topics given, could then be sought when a new player is ready or curious.

It would be nice if the Wiki homepage was a table of contents, with links to information on all of the topics above (I have found the Wiki hard to navigate). Maybe that contents list should be annotated somehow, with each heading/topic having brief information on the topics, with links to detailed pages (each such page could have one of the videos and detailed written information--we could also have a page with all of the videos listed/gathered). Hmmmm, maybe all that I just described should be on the website--not the Wiki.

Grubul and I are working on that. We're hoping to get it better organised.

These videos more or less just explain the features, they aren't like a step-by-step on how to make a town, for example.

One thing I noticed is that a lot of new players, before they get the hang of things, just want to be told what to do. We had three new members join our town yesterday and I had to continuously give them things to work on. Until people understand all the ins and outs of things to do, they will feel kinda lost.

So I voted for a town video, but I'd really like to see a video that give people a step by step guide to being successful (regardless of whether or not it works). It will simply allow players who lack direction to focus themselves and stay interested.

This is a great idea and I support it all the way! This unique idea of continent specific resources is amazing and should be show to the world! As it will bring many new players into Loka it will also teach some really great things about what this server upholds and the possibilities it contains, this server will grow exponentially as we think up ideas as great like this, as we have in the past!
