No Plans to Implement Make treasure knife cosmetics purchasable at a higher markup

The cosmetics are great, but I'd much rather just pay more to get what I want and not have a loot box addiction in the process (which in turn makes me less bothered to buy cosmetics in the first place). (like how OW does it)

I hate how the rolling works with the treasure knives, this would be a time saver for what I actually want.

This runs quite literally counter to the entire premise of Treasure Knives and unfortunately is a pretty hard no. This lets people buy only what they want, spending less money overall, wastes the hard work put in to all of the rest of the collectibles we make that people decide they don't want. Were we to even consider doing this, the markup would need to be probably astronomical.

We included the dust system so that you have a better chance of obtaining more rare collectibles that aren't dupes, but as a business, it's important that this works the way it does in order for us to be able to spend on Loka for the future.

We are not Blizzard, nor Overwatch.

Would it be possible in the future to use orbs to buy rereleased items?

It's a double-edged sword. We had to pick a design direction, and we couldn't do both simultaneously as they would not work in tandem. I personally believe the current common model for cosmetics in video games is far more predatory than our implementation which is why we went in this direction. Putting cosmetics at astronomical prices with various time pressures to purchase it that day or it would cycle out and you would not know if you would ever see it again is pretty scummy in my eyes. The bulk of the community in both rocket league and overwatch preferred the older loot crate system over the new timed shops and were very vocal about it. I believe one of the big reasons for that is that they can get loads of cosmetics for a small price instead of spending well over $20 for a single-goal explosion. Companies saw they could make more money with timed shops so most moved to this model.

Both designs have their flaws and neither is perfect. We felt that showing everyone the exact odds and exactly what they could obtain from it would be the least predatory way to do cosmetics and it still allowed those who picked up free orbs through voting and other means to obtain some cosmetics, which would have been much more difficult with the other method.

I appreciate that you prefer the method of doing cosmetics and respect your decision not to want to support it in its current form. At the end of the day, it is somewhat subjective as to which is better. We'll keep looking at adding new ways to use orbs in the future.

All I wanted from the treasure knives were the death messages, I think it would be better to instead choose which category of rewards you want to recieve.
