Suggestion Making conquest death messages toggleable

Just for some clarification for newer members, once upon a time all conquest death messages were sent in public similar to how wilds death messages are now. You were able to see conquest death messages even if you were a nomad.

It all started months ago when NerdieBirdie had suggested to "opt out" of death messages. I'm not sure if it was planned to be implemented in the future but it is obviously not something you're able to opt in and out of at the moment. Lurrn had also made a post shortly after in hopes to revert the change brought on by Nerdie's original post. The main concerns to making conquest death messages public were that it resulted in toxicity if a notable player died or simply because public chat would become a huge spam of "W"'s or "L"'s. With ganks being an hourly occurence nowadays anytime someone dies toxicity usually follows. As well as seeing a notable person die is cool but seeing someone die to a cool lore sword is even better. My point being that in today's Loka I think if conquest death messages were made public, the good of it outweighs the bad. Showing off lore swords to the whole server was a really cool thing but now you are just restricted to the people of that fight.

My suggestion is to make global conquest death messages toggleable the same way you toggle duels through profile. once again if this is already planned ignore this post its just that Lurrn's post was still labeled as "Suggestion" so I decided to make it a official suggestion.

(it would be somewhere on this menu)

Also not 100% sure of the legitimacy of the poll in Lurrn's post but it shows clearly that players disliked the change. (its 23-0)

+1 I think this would a pretty cool, it would really nice to even see very good players like Tryhard, Tamen, or Mario, to get beheaded.

The reason this isn't an option is due to plans of adding an overarching chat for conquest fights in the future. It also would add a weird sense of "what are they reacting to" when you see people talk about it in chat (which yes, exists now but will no longer be relevant when the fight specific chat rolls around). The other reason is because it adds unneeded toxicity and spam to public chat, and as the server grows it'll only become increasingly difficult to moderate it all. Although its not too big a deal now, in 6 months to a year this will definitely be out of the picture if Loka continues its growth trends, and implementing this just to take it out isn't worth the dev time.

To be clear, it's not that this wouldn't be cool, but in my opinion it's just a nightmare to deal with for staff members just due to how people may respond to certain players dying.

My thing is that the only reason it was changed was because of Nerdie's post but he suggested that it be something your able to opt out of not something that should be removed.

Koi said it better:
The post he's talking about for those wondering.

Yeah honestly I agree with the Nerdie, he suggested an option to opt out of these messages and not disable them.

Personally I think that having this be delegated to a per-fight global chat channel (that anyone could opt into, with fight participants being auto opted into it) would be a very elegant solution. Although yes, toxicity will still exist, it'll be delegated to a single channel not seen by the entire server. The reason that the opt-in option is weird (and why I've changed my mind since the original post you quoted) is because not everyone is going to see the messages if that's the case. My main concern is pretty much just trying to moderate chat and keep it from being all over the place though, and for right now the opt-in probably isn't the worst thing in the world, just going to be wacko in the future.
