Chapter 1: The New Age
Padfoot smelled, the familiar smell of fresh baked bread and salty seas.
He opened his eyes. The sun glared down at him. He saw blurred images of two-story buildings, and a port, that had boats docked in it.The first thing he heard was a suprised voice cry out "Padfoot!". He didn't recognize the guy who called out. Puzzled, he quickly asked how the stranger knew him.
"It says, on a sign, in the ruins of Dubara!", the stranger answered. Padfoot's thoughts and memories drifted to an old town in the north of Ascalon, the western continent.
"What town do you live in?", Padfoot asked. His curiosity gradually going up.
"Zorros.", he answered. Padfoot never heard of the name, so he assumed it was a sixth generation town.
"Ahhh.", he said, ending the conversation.
But his arrival sparked more conversations and greetings with the townsfolk of Zorros. To avoid the paparazzi, he briskly walked to Melchiott, Aladrian's baker, to get the free daily bread, and set sail on the Oakheart.
Padfoot knew exactly where he was going. He didn't know why he chose the town, but he knew his destination. The ruins of New Ibbish.
When more, and more people started joining Loka, he disagreed with the changes. He liked Loka when it was small and how he knew all the folk. Wolf, Nokia, Jedoi, Grubul, and Sku. He could even handle with Bat raiding his loot if it meant being in, what he liked to call it, "The Good Old Days". There were some things he liked about Loka growing although. The new towns emerging, alliances forming, and overall seeing the evolution of Loka taking place. Maybe he was going to New Ibbish, to cherish the memories of the fifth generation.
He went directly west hoping to encounter the lake New Ibbish was formed at. But even when following the river that emerged from the Bay of Ascalon he couldn't find it.
In the meantime the owners of Black Hammer Keep were requesting for him to join their town. Padfoot traveled back to Aladra to join the town and teleported there using the Aladrian portal.
The owner, Zhevvy, greeted him, once he got there.
"Hey!", Zhevvy said.
Padfoot looked, in admiration, of the walls that filled the tunnel, wondering, if the whole town was underground.
"This town, BHK, was built on the ruins of a town that once flourished…", Zhevvy stated, "…and along with BHK, five other towns made an alliance. It's called 'The Garaman Federation'."
Padfoot already knew this, but he didn't want to interrupt.
"We maintain order, and prosperity in Garama, so that 'The Covenant', doesn't control of the southern continent.", Zhevvy said.
Padfoot privately thought that even though Hilo were asses betraying their old alliance, he had to admire them, and Eldritch, being great warriors, and them also being two, of the top three, oldest towns on Loka, along with Auru.
He also wondered if anyone was clashing with Eldritch in the west, since Draekonfell fell. He promised himself, that if he started another town, he wouldn't put fell in it, so he wouldn't have to meet the same fate Draekonfell encountered. (Excuse me for the bad pun.)
Another guy met up with them.
"Hey Zhevvy!", he said enthusiastically.
"Hey Gravey." Zhevvy said, rather bored.
"This is Gravey. He's your tour guide. Ask him any questions you have." Zhevvy said, and left.
Filled with questions, Padfoot asked, "Need anything, that you don't have an excess of?".
"Hmmm…well you could always go logging.", Gravey said.
Padfoot, seeing how he had no armor on, changed his mind. "Actually, douguysavamine?", he asked, rather to quickly.
"What?", Gravey asked, confused.
Padfoot repeated himself. "Do you guys have a mine?"
"Not a formal one…', Gravey started.
Padfoot privately thought the town definitely need to improve on its expansion. That was why he was so anxious to get started.
'…but we can make one.", Gravey finished.
"Great! Get us some supplies!", Padfoot said.
In ten minutes, they got the supplies, and built the foundational building of the mine, with an arch for the entrance.
"Nice! Now could I start my house?", Padfoot asked.
"Woah now! You need a permit for that." Gravey said quickly.
That puzzled Padfoot. He didn't need a building permit from owners in any other towns he lived in. Why now? He was about to pull out a sword, and say, "Permit this!", but stopped himself. Instead he asked why.
"Because of town rules." Gravey answered.
Padfoot could see through the owners' logic. Not wanting anyone to mess up their town with random houses that didn't meet their criteria.
"Well, let us call it a day, and stop working then." Padfoot said.
"Alright. As a matter of fact, since you helped me out, I'll promote you."
Gravey said.
"Thanks!" Padfoot said graciously.
Remembering how he gave up on other towns in the past, he promised himself it wouldn't happen again.
"I won't give up on BHK. I promise!"
