Pirate attacks + Hireable npcs

Pirate attacks

Loka is a really great server and I thoroughly enjoy playing on it, it has achieved so much of its potential with
conquest and frequent updates to maximise the player experience. However, what I would like to see in Loka would be 'pirate attacks'.
For example, there would be a chance when taking on airship or boat somewhere instead of warping to your designated place you would encounter pirates. E.g if you travelled back from Ascalon the ship would spawn in the ocean or on another world, and two smaller boats would appear on either side filled with a few npcs. During this period, players cannot attack each other and must team up against waves of custom npcs with pirate skins.

For example, something like this could easily be achieved with the citizens and sentinel plugin.
A pirate could function like this:

/npc create
/npc sel
/npc rename &9&lAscalonian pirate
/npc equip (maybe give it an iron sword)
/trait sentinel
/trait sentinel addtarget PLAYERS
/trait sentinel removeignore PLAYERS
/npc skin (etc)

This string of commands could randomly spawn in the pirates if you ever happen to meet them. Maybe perhaps this could be turned into an event or other idea.

Hireable Npcs

Now this, is one of my favourite ideas. Imagine being able to buy npcs with shards or orbs? (Seeing as the /vote feature was added it won't be pay to win.) You could pay shards to hire guards and they'd start popping up at an industry building (the barracks which I would really like back <3). Then you could left click each guard to assign them a post. For example, it would say type the co ords or zone in chat. So you can have guards with bows in sniper towers defending 24/7. You could also assign them to protect radars as extra defence, or maybe even build 'outposts' as an extra /c create addition and they're mini towers that spawn guards. Honestly these are just a few ideas. It could work like this.

Npc in spawn called 'Legionary' or something. You pay him shards for troops:

64 shards is a swordsman
32 is an archer
128 is a calvary unit

Then your troops pop up in the barracks on standby, e.g your barracks can only have 10 troops.
You can select troops and assign them co ords, a zone or territory. If they were to be assigned to a tgen out of town for defence they would all move to the beacon and warp to such an area (with the cooldown in account) so to make things fair. Or you could do /c create outpost (please add that <3) where you place a mini tower with an archer and one guard that respawn occasionally and it can be taken out by charging lamps from killing the one golem there.

To be honest, this was really rushed but if anyone actually likes my idea I'll be happy to elaborate, I've been wanting to make something like this for ages.

Hireable guard NPC's sounds pretty cool to me as they would be a break from the usual player to player combat we have been seeing on Loka. I'd like to see some form of NPC guards in the future on Loka



The pirates though..... Doesn't sound very appealing to me

NPC guards would be marvellous but with the pirate attacks I feel as if it would be unfair against new players or players who aren't interested in that sort of thing and just want to get back to spawn quickly with no hassle.

I think the hireable NPCs is a great idea, depending on how good they are I feel like they have the potential to turn the tide in conquest fights among smaller towns.

The NPC idea is great I like the idea of having guards around the town while I sleep but wouldn’t it make the server laggy?

They spawn in the presence of players e.g if I’m not in Jungle 7 and no one is then my guard doesn’t spawn there until someone goes there. And you can only have a limited amount, up to Crypt I guess

Maybe they could add a boat with a chance of attack?

But then no one would board that boat, a better way to do this would be to add the chance for a pirate attack when going to big boi and small boi as the people going there will know and should expect that they might come across pirates.
