Quests! We want your suggestions

Well now Crypt's put it out in the open that Questing is something we're working on, I thought I'd make this thread and ask for the views of the community.

I've been tinkering about with various different plugins that deal with quests and similar such nonsense and I've got a pretty clear vision in my head of what I want to see, but I want to pose the question to the rest of you, if we do implement quest systems, what kind of content would you like to see?

Quests that lead to locations and custom items referencing server lore. We could have a quest going to get supplies for Asymp/Varasid, or seeking out a shrine of Valhalla. Both Asymptonic and Cryptite's lore is really good, and having both tech and myth lore makes Loka just amazing. Maybe have some quest rewards such as books dating back to server events, like the Battle of the Spire or Prek's nether bomb. These would be books that cannot be found in the library, giving players a reason to seek them out.

Some little Brewmaster quests would be great too. The unique items they give out are neat, and it sucks that only two of them exist.
Maybe a new one once every two or three weeks?

Defiantly more quests for special items. I would also like to see more quests to further the Verdant Village and Westfort stories. I could probably write some RP around the Lucky Potato too.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when I first visited the bar/pub place at spawn, it talked about how the villager would give you quests or something from time to time. Is that right?

Anyways, if it isn't, that may be a good idea. It won't force people to do quests but instead, if they want to partake in some quests to pass the time or earn something, they can just come to the bar and see if a new quest is available. I don't think it's a good idea to make all the quests playable one after the other because then a person could just binge Loka and finish all the quests in one session. Maybe have a quest available a day or maybe if a certain event occurs, that could trigger the quest being unlocked.

I'm not sure about you guys but when I think of quests, I immediately think of all those Runescape quests. You would travel all over the world to gain different items, and then maybe fight a couple of monsters or something. It would be a pretty cool idea for Loka's quests. The (Quest Master?) Would detail the quest, maybe where to go etc.
The player would then travel to a Protected area where the next part of the quest begins e.g. You get a pick that can mine through the special "Unbreakable Magic Blocks" at the next area that you need to travel to or maybe even a boss fight with a tanked up zombie or something.
The quests would be organised in a progressive system. The first quest would take you to only one place really close to spawn, a walkable distance and then the reward could be a book that details more lore.
As you progress, the quests become more demanding e.g you need to travel to more places that get further away from spawn.

This could also be a good way to implement more custom recipes. A quick example: Your journey takes you to an abandoned mineshaft. You have to explore it to find some ingredients in the chest. Like the (Spawn Crystal?) that you crafted at Verdant, you would craft another teleporting crystal but this one would take you instantly to the next place of the quest.

There could be a range of potential rewards. From a couple of food items or currency, to a rare enchant (Nothing like a Prot 4 or anything) or maybe gapples?

I read that the Ship Wreak quest was finished by someone and so there wasn't any benefit for other people to do it. I think making the quest experience the same for everyone might be a bad idea because if one person completes it, then its done and there isn't much of a point to do it. However, if everyone has their own individual quest experience, the items won't get looted after one quick person completes the quest.

As always, just my 2 cents :p
Feel free to banter around my ideas :)

Any more ideas out there folks? If anyone has any direct quest lines or ideas they think would be good feel free to contact us ingame or on Skype.

FYI: "A Region holds 32x32 Chunks, and a Chunk consists of 16x256x16 blocks. Region files are named based on the region coordinates such as r.0.0.mca or r.-1.-9.mca"

I actually believe that you would be able to use both the world guard and the Region (r.#.#.mca) files in combination with quest lines. Region (r.#.#.mca) files can easily be moved from one minecraft map to another. This would allow you to effectively build on the test server and move only the needed files over to the main server, without having to re-upload the entire map, for sudden "role playing" events.

A few long and very difficult dungeons would be nice. It would be neat to force people to team up for some of the better loot. Also, if quests have a loot-box system in place, then it would be neat to renew them every day/week so people can go run them again if they so wish.

Since the new map will have resources limited to biomes, perhaps some of the best rewards will be items found in biomes other than the one the dungeon is located in. Finding artifact weapons/armor (in rare instances, of course) that are much stronger than anything you can forge would be a pretty sweet incentive. Also, since not everyone is motivated simply by loot, would it be possible to drop cosmetic items very rarely? For instance, trails, pets, that sort of thing? If you guys are making new mobs, is it possible to make new mounts, and make those dropable as well? Or perhaps even items that give, say, a one-time short-term use of something like mob disguise, or other such things?

As for specific quest lines, I can think of a few ideas, but I don't know the lore of the server terribly well. Would we be using new lore? How much free reign would you be willing to give? What is the feel or atmosphere you're trying to go for? Fantasy? Or gritty realism? Or undead? Would it be alright to invoke deities or things like that? Will you need help building dungeons? Tell me what you're looking for, and I'd be happy to write up a few ideas for your consideration.

That's a very kind offer, our lore is a blend between sci-fi and norse mythology (yes, weird, we know) if you want to learn more about it I'd recommend either hitting up Artagan or reading the wiki, once you've got a basic grasp on it I'll gladly take your quest lines.

There's also the option for non-lore specific quests, just general fantasy style things, I'm all up for suggestions about those too.
