Suggestion Some Bits About The LCR Position

I'm a bit at odds with how LCRs work. On the one hand, it's an amazing idea to have people run to suggest changes and give insight on Loka, however, I feel the role needs a few updates.
First off, the term length is a bit long. I feel that faster turnover is the only way to keep new faces, and therefore fresh new ideas in LCR chat. Right now, they're long enough to forget the position exists at times, and just makes people less likely to speak to them.

Second, I feel as though the Guardians+ shouldn't have the ability to apply. Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against Skuhoo (frankly he is extremely knowledgable and is a great staff member) or the Guardians giving server insight. I just feel that Guardians themselves should just automatically be able to speak in LCR chat. They're high enough staff where they practically already have this level of influence, just no say in LCR votes. The guardians are all great and are some of the best staff members out there, and I think that they deserve the ability to act as LCRs, even though they are not, they still should have a say in the server that they've put so much effort into.

Overall, I feel that these few changes would really help out the LCR position and make it better overall.

I feel higher turnover will not only be more work on our end but it also achieves nothing. The role is not there to be another suggestions forum. It exists for them to feedback current issues to myself and Crypt, and for us to explain to them what is going on behind the scenes or why certain decisions were made so they can feed it back to the community without us spending ages writing up lengthy posts. It also takes people time to get up to speed with the LCR position, become comfortable with it and be the most useful they can be in that position. The effort put into applying and the value of the position also goes down if you have shorter turnarounds. Why put in all that effort if it only lasts 1 month? If the issue is people forgetting they exist, then that is a different problem that requires a different solution.

As for Guardians, they ARE NOT involved in the development of the server. They are there as rule enforcers and our eyes and ears on the server. Sure we may call on them, LCR's and dev team members from time to time to help us test features etc. as they are highly trusted with good knowledge of the server. But feature development is completely separate to their role so it is important they have the same opportunity to be voted in by the community as anybody else.

I think perhaps you misunderstand the role of the position. It is important that the role is purely voted by the community and we have no say on who is on it or provide special spots for staff. These LCR positions are solely by and for the community.

I feel as though that shorter turnover would improve the position overall. Let's say someone goes for LCR, then gets bored of Loka. Well, they've essentially just stopped doing their entire job. Yes, its part of the role to not go inactive or stop taking part, but frankly this is not garunteed. I also think it would get more faces in and out, and new ideas. By shorter term, I mean like a month or two shorter than the current one. The current one is just a bit too long. But, I have to agree, 1 month is way too short.

As for the Guardian thing, I understand that they have no development influence, but they still have a lot of weight through their opinions. However, I understand why it makes sense to keep them out of the LCR position.

Edit: I do want to be clear though, I think the LCR position is a very effective way at tackling player feedback. I think that the slight change in term length could make this a bit more effective, and after Mag's explanation of the Guardian's influence this does make sense. I think though that in general our current LCRs have done a very good job at giving the staff feedback and multiple different ideas have gone through and been successful, a recent example is FroggyFruit's camps.

Typically LCRs last 3 months; but when things are particularly turbulent or busy on the server, they'll sometimes last 4 months.

I think that keeping about 3-4 LCR terms per year is a good goal to shoot for. I understand that when things do get busy it would make sense to keep them for a bit longer.
