We landed in Valentia after a rough week of sailing. Though the voyage was tough we soldiered on to the docks were King Benjamin awaited us. He greeted us in hasty manner
"Welcome back to Valentia Lord Steve, we have been awaiting your arrival for days now."
"I apologize for our tardiness my lord," Steve said while beginning to bow, "the sea were quite a bit more tretours than we thought."
"Come, let us not worry about that too much, I will bring you up to date while we dine."
As such we proceeded to the dining hall after Beckoned Lux a safe journey to Firsthold.
"Our enemies ready themselves for battle, this is the reason you have been recalled to Eldritch."
"Are we positive that they are preparing to attack us and not the other empires of Ascalon?"
"Yes, our information has already proved itself solid."
"Since that is the case I dare not linger, we shall set out under the cover of dark so that we may be safe distance away before we make camp for the night."
"We?" Mtn looks confusedly down the table past Steve to see me sitting there.
"Greetings my lord" I said in a timidly standing to bow.
"No, please sit. I apologize that I didn't notice until now." Turning back to Steve Mtn said in a whisper, "I see you are finally moving from that..."
Steve kicks Mtn under the table and says "Shut up" in a hushed tone.
Mtn chuckles "You never change Steve."
"Someone has to keep the peace. Anyways this is my daughter Syla. Castalina is her mother."
"So she is the reason you left Eldritch?"
"Correct, I took her to see her Mother and return to Eldritch with me for the time being."
"Ah, I well I have passed along everything I have been briefed on. I have had my men get together supplies and arms for your trip to Eldritch. However be warned their have been sightings of bandits along the road so be careful."
Steve laughs "I think we can handle ourselves against a couple bandits."
We shortly arrived at the stables after thanking the king for the meal and bidding him farewell.
"How far is Eldritch from Valentia?"
"A couple days by horse," Steve said while helping me mount my horse. "If we ride from dawn to dusk it should take us two days max."
Steve then mounted his horse and we set out.
We finally stopped to set up camp once dusk was passing into the dark of night. I watered the horses while he set up the tent and set the fire. Once we were settled by the fire he pulled a small package out of one of the bags the king had sent with us.
"Have you ever had marshmallows?" He asked.
"I have not, I have heard the word but I have never had one" I said.
Steve lightly chuckled as he handed me a small squishy white object on a stick. "You hold it over the fire using the stick to roast it, once you let it cool a while then you can eat it."
"Ok," I said following his instructions to the letter. It tasted sweet and it's texture was strange. "I think I prefer my tea."
Steve chuckled, "Alright, you can have all the tea you want once you get home."
It took me sometime to get to sleep but shortly after I had drifted off I heard multiple loud clangs of iron. I flew out of my tent to find Steve sheathing his sword with three dead men at his feet.
"Bandits," he scoffed, "they were trying to steal the horses. I suppose it's a good thing I sleep with one eye open and one hand on my blade hilt."
We didn't get much more sleep that night so we set out as soon as we saw the sun coming over the horizon. By lunch time we arrived at the ocean. By chance we were a couple hours away from Eldritch however we decided to linger on a small island to catch our lunch.
Once we had sufficiently filled our bellies we made the short walk to our destination. The guards let us in with not question once they saw Steve saying only "Welcome back Lord Steve."
