Town Inns

Saw this lovely looking inn on reddit today and it got me thinking. I know towns are sometimes afraid to recruit new members due to the possible damage they can cause if they go rogue or are otherwise griefers.

Part of the problem is, of course, education about Zones. If your town was properly zoned out, you could effectively restrict new members to areas of your town and know that, at least if they tried to grief, the damage would be minimal.

The inn idea has always intrigued me, the idea of an inn built by players (as towns often seem to have these) that could actually properly house players (or new ones). Many inns exist, for pretty, but nobody lives in them and they just serve for aesthetics.

The way zones work now, you could effectively zone each room of an inn for Level 1, but then each level 1 member would have access to each level 1 room zone, so they could steal from each other and whatnot.

Would there be any interest in some sort of system whereby you could define a zone and then flag that zone as belonging to a specific player? Any higher-level member could access lower level zones, regardless of their ownership, but then you could build an Inn and zone Room 101 for Level 1 members, then add PlayerA to that zone and only PlayerA (or any level 2+ members) could access that door, get inside and re-arrange, etc.

Just a thought.

Sounds a bit confusing to me, and if a player only had perms in his/her room/inn they would struggle to get anywhere in the town (due to lack of perms) and most likely couldn't get out of the town. I have thought about it in the past and really don't think it would work. If they can't do anything they will get bored and leave the server.

I'm with Magpie, but I also think for other uses, the system your proposed could be interesting.
