First off, great quote. Second, I think 1.9 will be the exact thing Loka needs. The vast alterations to the pvp mechcanics, yes, will be difficult to adapt with, but with it everyone will be on more equal levels. I know how hard starting from scratch can be, but once you suck it up and accept the inevidle change, you have to find something to give you drive do succeed with that change. Consider the new pvp mechanics as a new challenge to conquest, a rather tall barrier that needs to be conquered. With the 1.7 mechanics no one got as good as they are over night, they practiced all the same as they would have to now. I understand not wanting to play a video game because you don't have the time, but if you're quitting the server, any of you, because you have a new challenge to face and you don't want to try, then I suppose I overestimated you. And that makes me disappointed.

I agree. Change is not a reason to quit, believe in yourself and take a chance and maybe things won't see as bad as they did :)

I too agree that anything that 'resets everybody to a baseline' is great for Loka. It's what was great for the New World we have now. All preexisting titans of the server all started on the same foot as the noobs. While the best still emerged as we figured they would, there was a time that everybody felt like they could be the new top dog on Loka. This kind of thing is why so many servers reset their worlds so frequently.

Especially because Loka has this big Conquest focus, the 1.9 combat changes are probably one of the best things that can happen to what many probably feel is already a stagnation in the dominant forces on the server. Combined with the new players we're getting and will continue to get, this could be a perfect storm of positive changes to the server.

That said, if you spent a big chunk of your life and time to master a system (1.7 pot pvp) and that has all but been destroyed by 1.9, I can absolutely see how that could be soul crushing and the kind of thing to make you just kind of give up and move on to something else. However, sometimes it's nice to be reset and then get to master a new system and emerge on top. Especially since this new system (I think, anyway) will be seen as more strategic and skill based combat system, rather than twitchy/exploitive (how I feel about current pvp), I would consider my mastery of that system more legit, but that's all in the eye of the beholder.

Another update as of yesterday. Apparently Spigot has been working alongside the snapshots and they claim they're going to be releasing their 1.9 wrapped the next day (Friday). To spare any more technical jargon, what this means is that it may not be up to a month before we go 1.9 after all. Given that they are going to release where they're at early, lots of developers (including us) will have time to start plugin migrations for 1.9 before it even comes out.

So hooray! We'll see, as always, and of course we'll keep you updated as to when Loka is gonna be able to update.

Oh, wow. I do think Loka should update to it quickly when it is available (so many potential new players will be looking for it, likely).
