I don't really buy arguments that say easyplace will suddenly spawn in some renaissance of megabuilds everywhere. At best it is a convenience feature that just lets you build something you were already going to build easier. Everybody is already using Litematica to setup builds in their towns anyway.

And I also don't see what's bad about there being more good builds on Loka. I understand the blood, sweat, and tears argument of old but Loka isn't a "hardcore realism building server". The power in the build is its style, quality, type of blocks used (that still need to be gathered). What's impressive about a build isn't really that it took 500 extra hours of manually adjusting rotatable blocks correctly.

I'd rather have better looking towns than have only a small fraction of them be "good" because they had hardcore enough players willing to place the blocks (even though still used litematica and their own creative build server).

That's my 2 shards. Even among staff this is divisive.

@Nekometa I think we'd all benefit if we knew what was Easyplace did actually
It automatically moves the block needed to your hotbar and then just places it, so you can just hold down right click and build with litematica, you also don't have to be looking at another placed block or placing off of another block to place the blocks, so it makes it much more convenient, but I'm pretty sure it still can't align stairs or blocks like that to how they are in the schematic yet, that is still the same

You can auto place everything around you, but as you said if theres a log facing up it wont auto place it like that. It doesnt auto-align the blocks to the right positions

litematica is the real problem. Half of schematics are straight up copies, the other half were designed in creative flat worlds and don't fit in with the environment they're actually gonna be built in.

That's fine for underground PvP bunkers since nobody sees them anyway. But for surface towns, the best ones are built naturally by many people over a long time, like real cities. Think Valinor or Arvik. They weren't spawned in by one or two people (TICAN)

Easy place accelerates schematics, schematics are bad

The idea that Tican was simply "spawned in" by one or two people (presumably myself and @koi0001) is a gross oversimplification that disregards the extensive effort put into every aspect of its development.

Tican isn't just about building a town on a "creative flat world". In fact, our most important tenet was to use the terrain of Loka to our advantage. Our goal is to create an immersive environment that reflects a shared vision for a town that truly marries form and function. When we founded Tican in July 2022 I wanted to make it the first fully "above ground" town on the server.

The attention to detail and quality of our town doesn't just "spawn in" either. While you may think my town is built solely by me, it indeed was not. Many other builders on the server have helped me not only develop my skill but also have given input on the town (@koi0001, @Mocc1, @Zachary_N_Kaleno, @Thanielle, @McDanky, among many others). In this sense, Tican isn't just a town—it's a monumental achievement that reflects the hard work, passion, and dedication of the wider Loka community.

Trying to say that that towns built with extensive planning and use of schematics lack a "soul" when compared to ones built haphazardly ignores what makes a town fundamentally remarkable. It's not about how the blocks were placed—it's about the vision, the creativity, and the people that brings that vision to life. Tican exemplifies these qualities to a far greater degree than many "organic" towns, and it stands as a testament to what can be achieved when you bring together a group of talented players.

So, while EasyPlace and schematics might accelerate the building process, they don't diminish the value of the work done. Indeed they may centralize the design process but I believe this allows for more input. Players who normally wouldn't have a chance to add things because they feel they lack building skill are encouraged to do so in my town. From there, we work as a team to bring it into the style of Tican. The notion that a town must be built "naturally" to be great is a romantic and remarkably flawed perspective that fails to appreciate the diverse ways in which creativity can be expressed within Minecraft as a while, not just on Loka.

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
