Alzxdnr Unban appeal #3

(Apologies in advance for the severe yap)

I met Alzxdnr (who i’ll refer to as Alex for the rest of this due to familiarity) in 2021 on a pretty big towny server. We ended up playing with the same group pretty fast, and got acquainted that way. We never really talked though, as we didn’t share many interests. My impression of him back then was what you would think of your usual pvp tryhard - loud, obnoxious, egotistical, etc… Moving on to the following year, 2022, we kept playing on the same servers, all centered around towny and potpvp (who would’ve thought…). Naturally, we got to know each other better, and by that point I had a better impression of him, he didn’t seem as toxic as I had previously thought, but that was most probably only because I got to talk to him in situations where he wasn’t toxic, as opposed to others who woud only see that unappealing persona. Ultimately, he got himself banned on the server we both mained, and we just grew apart from then on.

2023 comes, and I get back into playing Loka, after 2 years of sporadic activity. Alex was, at that time, a very active and invested player. We rekindle our friendship through our mutual acquaintances and memories from the servers we both played on, and things seem to be going well. I still see him often beef with other players, including my friends, in chat and in vc, and being pretty non-confrontational, I let it slide. Eventually, I hit my so-called breaking point, got mad, confronted him, and some pretty bad stuff was said on both sides. We stop talking, I take part in the toxicity directed towards him, and just all-around ignore him. It is now July of 2023, and we once again meet on a new towny server. Immediately, the hostilities begin (if you’re wondering, I lost almost all the sieges), and my hatred for this guy grows. That summer was, no pun intended, pretty heated, and well yeah, nothing seemed possible to rebuild the bridges that were burnt. Fall comes and goes, and around November, I restart talking to Alex. By that point, we’ve both apologized and recognized the immaturity of our feud. I offer him support for harassment perpetrated by another group I was at the time a part of, and yeah after a while, we just hung out again. Then comes December of 2023. Alex doesn’t seem in a good headspace that month. He would often sound stressed and agitated, on the brink of lashing out at anyone. I believe that Loka offered him, just like many others, a sort of escape from the reality he was living. I am not condoning his behaviour. What he said was truly horrid, and should never come out of anyone’s mouth. Even if he never vocally expressed it, he seemed to know that what he was doing wasn’t right, as he was anticipating his eventual ban, asking us (as in matrix members and more) to hold his town, store his items, etc.

And then boom, 24th December 2023 crazy ban, and everyone is asking themselves what happens now?

Over the following few months, he calms down a lot. I guess no longer having this “outlet” of sorts forced him to face his problems, and we keep in touch. We play the same servers, find a common interest in the music we listen to, and just have an all around good time. Throughout this, I could clearly see the effect the ban has had on him. He stays careful not to say slurs, and just tones down the overall toxicity by several levels (except for some rare times people have said very touchy things). Although he had then stopped interacting as much with it as he used to, he would still entertain some relations with the potpvp community, (eventually becoming a staff member in the discord for example), and started building a community of his own. Centered around the name of his Loka town, the “Matrix” community discord was born, which I was (and still am!) apart of. The servers we played as a group, the people I met and the all-around mood of the server are things I will truly cherish. Throughout this time, across all the servers we played on, I can confidently say that Alex did his utmost best to remain a pleasurable person to converse with. He refrained (and still does!!!!) from slur usage, racism, toxicity, insults and ragebaiting, at times where I believe doing so (not the racism/slur usage ofc) would’ve been understandable, given the context. Being so close to this all, I have seen firsthand the evolution of this guy, and well yeah, if anyone has reformed, it is definitely him.

SO. Alex went from being an immature, toxic, foul-and-loud mouth, bratty, obnoxious, quick-to-anger melon, to becoming someone who can build solid communities, and who you can genuinely enjoy talking with. He brings a healthy competitive spirit to the community, a quality I deeply admire, and has the charisma and skill to back up his ambitions (ha ha glaze ha ha). I’m sure many others will agree to the above. What happened on the 24th of December had been coming for a long time, and yeah, hats off to the guy for actually taking advantage of this and making genuine changes.

If you actually read all of this, thank you. This is a pretty thorough explanation of our history, and why I consider him to be one of my best friends, albeit online. (he sucks at r6 though)
