We're excited to announce our new Dupe Bounty system, designed to encourage players to harden and stabilize Loka by rewarding players who work with us to find and fix dupes! On Loka we take dupes very seriously and, generally speaking, try out best to stamp them out as as they are reported. We now want to take things one step further by incentivizing the discovery of dupes and very importantly, cooperation with us on reproducing the dupe and getting it fixed expeditiously.
What Qualifies as a Dupe worthy of a Reward
- Must be able to create items out of nothing or duplicate existing items.
- Must involve items with general economic value
- This excludes a "technical dupe" (think deleting Industry Buildings) that produces non-valuable blocks like torches, trapdoors, etc.
- This means dupes must be related to items, not NPCs or non-economically-valuable game elements.
- Must be reproducible and proven via video clips or detailed step-by-step instructions.
- Must be related to plugin functionality and not from vanilla Minecraft behavior.
- For example bonemealing to create infinite flowers might be something we try to prevent on Loka, but is not a dupe caused by a plugin.
- Must be able to prove you can keep the duplicated items.
- Many illegal items on Loka auto-destroy themselves and so these would not count.
- Players will receive $25 worth of Orbs (same as the store purchase) for each unique, proven item duplication bug.
- Rewards are not retroactive. This is for all dupes reported from now on.
- Each unique dupe method counts as a separate reward.
- There can be several dupes from the same "feature", but as long as the mechanics of the dupe are unique, they can result in a reward for each dupe.
- Only the first person to report a specific dupe receives the reward
- Multiple players who worked together to find a dupe will need to decide how to split the reward.
- Players must work with staff until the dupe is fixed and proven fixed before getting their final reward.
Why Just Orbs?
We've decided against offering other rewards like titles to prevent the creation of a market for selling dupe information.
How to Report
When you find a potential dupe:
- Record a video clip or prepare detailed reproduction steps.
- Report it to an Elder, most probably @Cryptite.
- Work with staff to verify and ensure the dupe is fixed.
- ...
- Profit! Receive your orbs once the dupe is confirmed fixed.
- What if a player is caught trying to dupe but then says he was working on making it reproducible?
- You must contact staff and inform us ahead of time that you intend to do The Funny Business of trying out dupes.
- If you do not do this you are likely to get permabanned.
- What about dupes that require hack clients (or non-approved mods) to achieve dupes?
- Similar to the above question, you will need to communicate with an admin in advance of any attempts at duping. We will then work on a best path for testing with you.
