Arena Color Scheme

I'm quite ashamed that Crypt, with the profession he has, chose such a horrid color scheme for /arena armors. If you weren't aware, as you gain rating the color of your armor changes. This happens every 50 rating (1550, 1600, 1650, etc.) and once you unlock a higher color you keep that color for the remainder of the season.

I don't remember the exact scheme (Crypt?) but I know that I went from a cyanish color to bright yellow after hitting 1800. So...

Blue is typically the novice color so I'd start with that...

There are a few good choices (imo) for end colors (2000?1900?). White or a deep yellow could represent gold or silver. Or there's black and blood red.

You could take a spin around the color wheel starting with blue and going counter-clockwise. Stop at red or do the above.

I know this is unrelated to colors but rating should start at 1000 so it is easy bar of showing who is hire and stuff. Sorta like how in hockey if your above .500

I normally regard yellow and white as the lowest ranked colours, similar to martial arts belts.

If white is to be used as a base color I'd go ahead and just use the default brown of leather instead.

Here's something really simple. It starts at 1500 in the top-left and each box increments 50 rating.

or switch it up...

I think the blue and the red should be very different shades to what they are in battlegrounds.

I'm somewhat confused by that... Assume were going top left to top right, them bottom left to bottom right? Also, there three different shades of blue, etc. Can you use these colors: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Formatting_codes ?'

Also, it should be noted that battleground players are only red team vs blue team so their colors shouldn't be compared to the arena ones.

Personally i would go with something similar to martial arts belts. I know currently when you get a colour you keep it but i think players bellow 1500 should have different colours. Therefore i propose you have the colour of whatever rank you are at that time. Here are the colours i propose.

EDIT:
1500 - white
1550 - yellow
1600 - orange/gold
1650 - green
1700 - dark green
1750 - aqua
1800 - blue/dark blue
1850 - purple
1900 - dark red/brown
1950 - brown/grey
2000 - black

Technically there are two shades of blue, but considering there are only three basic colors you're going to get a ton of different shades of colors.

With the codes it would be:

Default
2A0000
00002A
000000
2A002A
3F3F15

And the second one...

Default
3F3F15
2A0000
00002A
2A002A
000000

It is quite feasible to hit 2k rank though and if you use belts then you'd have the same color for 200 rank with your system.

Yes but considering there are only 2 players above 1800 and no one else anywhere near it, it seems unnecessary to add colours in for those ranks. If it is that big of an issue (which it isnt) it is easy enough to add other colours in to my system.

Yes at the moment, but Crypt is planning to advertise the server using this arena system so we might as well be prepared.

This color scheme is meant to work for us in the future as well when we do get more than two players above 1800.

I guess to me, it's just odd to give colors to ratings less than the starting value. The idea of getting a new armor color is supposed to be a reward for doing well in arenas, and while not everyone will get those, it seems odd to reward somebody for doing poorly. There are other ways to reward people for participation in arenas and we should probably seek those out, but at least for armor colors, that's why I'm for them starting at 1550.
