IGN at time of ban: bigboyyacht
Ban date: 2/16/2025
On 2/16/2025 I was banned for hate speech following a racist comment made to turkish player VienisasVilkas where I sterotyped turkish people as terrorists by telling him to "go back to bombing synagogues" in reference to his ethnicity. The day prior, I was perm muted for comments I made about the turkish community on the server, which insinuated that turkish players don't belong on loka and should be banned. I do not remember if those comments were made that day (the 15th) or the day prior.
I'm not gonna try to justify my actions, as they were plain wrong. I discriminated against and stereotyped others for their ethnicity for a joke. My actions not only went against the community Loka staff attempt to foster, but against my own personal values as well. I sincerely apologize for these actions, and am I committed to not making the same mistakes again. I have attempted to find a way to contact VienisasVilkas and apologize, however his ign is hidden on namemc and I do not have his discord.
In the over 9 months since my ban, my relationship with Minecraft servers and video games in general has drastically shifted. Prior to my ban, I interacted with Loka and spaces like it through an overly serious, competitive lense. I realized that this unhealthy relationship likely heavily influenced my toxicity, and have taken steps to correct it. Nowadays, when I do play competitive servers like Loka, I enter recognizing how trivial they are and remind myself how stupid getting worked up over them is. This isn't largely about not wanting to be punished for breaking server rules, but is instead largely out of recognition for how my actions affect others and preferring to not take servers so seriously.
I recognize why lifting this ban may be cause for hesitation, but I truly believe I am capable of handling the responsibilities an unban would entail. I recognize that I am not entitled to a second chance, and I am committed to not taking it for granted.
