Constantine Ban Appeal.

Context: I was banned on the 11th of August for 'Exploit abuse'. I did not exploit and staff know this. But I knew about it and failed to report. Normally (I think) this would only be a temporary ban, but due to the scale of the duping which I failed to report I was permanently banned. I'm sure most of you have seen the video by SweHarry with kSleep where they dupe lots and buy the entire market and give it away, along with sets and shulkers etc. Yes I admit I knew about this and I knew they had been doing this for a long time now, but like everyone else I had no idea how the dupe method worked. The dupe was first discovered by Harry back in Echo, at the time I was not in the town and in that entire towns history I was in it for a less than a day before I went back home to Astro. I never knew how they duped all I knew is that they were duping. It was diamond blocks and a beacon they duped (they now being Zye, Harry and Hoodoo2014). This only lasted a month or so and Zye got them all to stop as they thought they would be caught. The diamond blocks duped were cashed in for shards of course and these shards were used atleast in part to buy the town Gotham. I think Harry still did some duping every now and then in Donzula but im not certain. Fastforward to about 2 months ago, Sleep and Harry come up with a plan to kill the server economy by duping ungodly amounts of shards and buying the market out, they did this cause they were quitting Loka anyways and thought it would be funny ig. Sleep in particular also wanted Zye and AJ banned cause 'I dont like them'. So using a clip of a voicechat which I had got he sent it to staff basically self reporting himself along with Harry and Zye. Despite my voice being in that clip everyone in it was banned except me, not sure why. This video was posted before the giveaway harry and sleep did at spawn. Once that happened and harry had uploaded his infamous video then I was banned along with Hoodoo2014.
AJMoody also never duped and is in the exact same position as me. He just knew about it.

Appeal:
Obviously it makes sense that I was banned due to failure to report. But I am arguing the permanence of this ban is unfair. The reason I didnt report my friends duping is because that would cause a huge argument and they would obviously get mad at me for reporting them. Yes of course I care about Loka and I enjoy it alot but when it was probably losing my friends to continue playing Loka. Im sure for most of you its a no-brainer. I never encourage the duping nor did I ever take or use any duped items at all. I kept distance from all of that the only thing I knew is that it was happening. Its unfair to permanently ban me for simply knowing this. I enjoyed Loka and despite a fair amount of my friends being banned I still have friends who I want to play with such as Cipherv, Monkeynick and Scotrian.

this appeal just proves that in the future if you’re friends with someone who is breaking the rules you will be silent about the matter

It's not that deep. If you know about someone that has a game breaking exploit we'd appreciate letting us know.

If you don't want to tattle on your friends that's fine, but there's repercussions to your actions. We don't enforce rules because we enjoy banning people, we enforce them to try and keep the server enjoyable and fair for everyone. I think it's pretty obvious how duping a fortune and then buying out the Loka market ruins the game for others.

I think everyone is somewhat sympathetic to Constantine to some extent given the circumstances, but the exploit was just abused far to greatly to ignore and our rules are very straight forward.
 
Of course a ban was justifiable, but permanently banning me for not doing something is unfair. Yes I do understand the scale of the exploit and the massive disruption is has caused to the server and im deeply sorry for that, but that also wasn't me. Given the fact I was an active community member with 0 incidents before hand surely a case could be made for the ban to be lifted.
 
There is no doubt what Constantine did was wrong, and the fact that the duping bug was drastically abused over a long span of time doesn’t help his case. Zaidgvv claims that Constantine was forced to choose between the rules and a long-lasted friendship. However, it’s worth mentioning he wasn’t forced to choose. Sometimes, to help out a friend, you need to make sure a lesson is made. In saying that, Constantine should’ve reported it and asked to stay anonymous. Cryptite and Magpieman have always kept who reported what locked down tight and have always expressed this in appeals. Most recent example of this is in eyvah’s ban appeal from a few days ago.

However, I also know, he has had his fair share of positive contributions to the community throughout his time on Loka. In my opinion that should be taken under consideration. Isn’t it a bad idea to permanently remove a positive, actively contributing community member because he made one bad decision? Now, granted I can’t be 100% certain, but if it is true that Constantine has had no earlier infractions I think it’s safe to say a long temp. ban is more than enough for him to learn his lesson. Granted, one month is too soon for him to be unbanned considering the drastic extent in which the bug abused.

-1 on being unbanned now, +1 on reducing the punishment to three six months.

I used 275k of my own cash from RIs and 25k from Harry to buy Gotham. That 25k was later put back into Harry's shulkers once I did a few more RI runs. Unfortunately, I was quite the RI no life and my RI mining stats (which I believe staff track quite extensively) will reflect that. The vast majority of my cash is legitimate, with the exception being whatever Harry left in my possession when he originally quit months ago.

Fair enough. I was just going off what harry had told me.
 
Constantine was an active community member, 0 past incidents and a friendly player. He was stuck between a rock and hard place when his friends started to dupe. A permanent ban for this is harsh and wrong. Him getting the same punishment as people who tried to wreck the server is unjust. +1
