Suggestion End Gank/Zyre Thoughts

I personally think End was simply the only red tag place you could go fight and 1v1 etc etc End was simple on the basis you spawn on
one dock and arent forced out immediately End was also very very simple you could go to end and just go back to what ever you were doing before zyre implies
you need to stay there for way more than intended of your average joe and is way more serious
ganking than what others might of wanted the biggest problem i see with zyre is the
size but since the storm has been added that has been fixed ( I think the storm is stupid yes ik based opinion)
but i foresee ascalon ganks coming back and zyre drying out however as Cryptite spoke about
bigger player bases and things coming into loka I can see gank isle not having these problems i have stated but until that day my opinion stays​

I think itd be worth trying dock rotations, except people would have to expect annoying cheese tactics.

Maybe make it so when you get to Zyre on the boat, you can choose to stay on the boat and leave with it in case you are being stared down by 11 reds
 
A couple reasons why End Ganks were super fun.
  • Permanent Eternal Sanctuary providing invunerability has a lot of benefits
  • Low FPS
  • All End Ganks started from the same 16x16 chunk right outside of the Eternal Sanctuary, if you wanted to gank all you need to do was take the boat to end and walk out and wait for someone
  • Zyre makes it so that you need to select a zone and assuming players are in the zone you selected you got to go and find them
  • Kiting in the end was super easy which allowed bad players to be more comfortable with fighting in the end (invis pots, elytras etc), there was also the end portal itself
  • You can argue this point all you want but there was litterally someone at End Docks 24/7 meaning there was always someone to fight against
Now all that being said let me explain why it was terrible for Loka.
  • The amount of gear End Ganks used daily is comparable to a KitPvP server
  • In some cases people stopped placing conquest because they were out of pots because of End Ganks THIS IS HUGE
  • A select few of the people who actually ganked were responsible for grinding their gear THIS MAKES UP LIKE HALF PEOPLE WHO WENT TO END
  • Just a overall drain on each and every town that had members exhausting armor and pots on a daily basis
The problem imo is that free pots is not enough incentive for everyone to forget about end ganks and all of its pros. I suggested it before Zyre came out that Zyre needs more incentive and I still think it does to this day. As well as Zyre has not been out for very long and in my eyes it can still use a lot of tuning and that can come in any shape or size.

I appreciate the well thought out post. It is true that for us a big reason people asked for, and we created Zyre was to combat the resource loss caused by end ganks (among a few other things).

That said, arguing on behalf of the people who miss end ganks, I'm pretty certain they do not care at all about that part. Whether you had, grinded, or lost gear to end ganks was totally up to them to handle and solve for and they don't really care about that.

There are some tweaks we've agreed to just try out (remove crystals, add a number hologram that shows number of players on Zyre). I think the bigger sticking points are probably:
  1. FPS (tough one)
  2. Dock protection, which is the most controversial one I suspect.

    I could potentially see letting people be able to come back to spawn if they stayed on the dropship, but once you have a sanctuary zone on Zyre, players will only exist in about a 50-100 block radius around that sanctuary and they will go nowhere else.

    It's this concept that I think the most discussion/brainstorming needs to happen around.

Add docks and cut the map in half. If we shrink the map I’d say get rid of the storm. Player counter is a cool idea too. also koths or other events should take place on zyre similar to fishing tournaments.
 
Iv seen some really good pov stuff here X_Cavator makes good point we need incentive and as to add to what piggy said LOW FPS GANG thats why i loved it personally and it was just a no brainer to go end and there is always someone there zyre is too much effort for your average joe

THIS^^^^^ the dropping from a ship is a cool concept but it's just too time consuming and people just want to be able to go in and out of zyre quickly and easily.
 
I mean I still see people regularly say, 'Garama red zone dock'. When Zyre is active, it's quite active and when it's not, it's not. I definitely don't see what people mean when they say it's 'dead'. Realistically Gank Isle will just have a super inconsistent population and I don't forsee it changing, the same would happen to End Ganks.
sorry i dont want to go with entire alliance just for 1 gank

+1 Fast travel to zyre and back to aladra
+1 Smaller zyre
I love the feature of giving pots back in zyre, very cool!
I dont like being trapped in zyre and having to make a 2-4min run to escape, not cool

Active / inactive sanctuary zones just like how boats move around?

Continent docks will never become a red tag zone. The reason being is that we want to have an area for new people to go in order to get set up in the future. Although now there aren't any new people getting set up this way, eventually Loka should be accessible to people wanting to go about things on their own instead of joining a town.
a way to fix this is maybe make 1 dock red tag and the other 2 yellow tag, make it very obvious which is which, like make ascalon docks red tag and garama yellow bc garama is actually useful for the ri

I don't think there is a scenario where dock tags being inconsistent is good and helps new players.
