Suggestion Fish Talk

So I recently did an 18 hour stream on Fishing and noticed a few things, and during the stream I came up with a few things that could spice fishing up and would be relatively easy to implement. Fishing Content on Loka is kind of lackluster and the cap is actually quite small (even if it's hard to get to). These suggestions, if implemented, would bring a whole new light to fishing, and open it up to new players who would like to fish.

Raise the Cap - The current fish cap is about 250 Lbs, and throughout time on Loka the top fish has been around 240 Lbs and has not had any crazy leaps. It would be cool to have fish much larger with different weight classes that way players could have more excitement when they catch a larger fish. The whole 'Monster' 'Gargantuan' 'Titanic' classes don't really bring much excitement to people unless they catch a Titanic or a crazy Gargantuan and get master whaler, which most people don't even get in a LONG time of fishing. Take a look at the fishing data below to see how the fish have been caught (Sample size around 2000 fish). This data should show that 250 is just not feasible, and all the fish under it are just kind of 'bland' which means that there should be some new variety (more on that in the next part). The cap should be raised.

It'd be pretty fair to assume that fish get bigger than 250 Lbs, but to be 'Realistic' It would be cool to cap them at around 600-650 Lbs. Bring more excitement to Fishing!

New Fish Types - Let's assume that the Cap gets raised. We wouldn't just want the normal fish categories to be stretched to fit it, now would we? We should come up with some new Fishing Category ideas (Such as Whales, Sharks, Kraken?) that way the fish that are added would have their own new weight class that could be unique and exciting for the fishermen to catch. This would add more flavor to fishing and would be a start to adding more content to fishing (Even though in reality it is just expanding the system already developed, which should be quite easy).

Badge System - Ever play Pokemon as a kid? Beat the Gym leader you get a badge, get all badges you get to fight against the Elite 4, and then the Champion? Screw all that lets just collect Badges for fun and enjoy fishing! Fishing Tournaments are a great addition to Loka, and one of my favorite things to do every now and then when they're around. Have a Badge system where you can collect badges based on Tournaments won. This could open the door to TOWN Fishing Tournaments held as festivals, with the winner getting a badge named after the town in their Badge storage (Could be added to your /b in its own new item thing like the Soulbound bag). If you win lets say 2 Kalros tournaments, you now have Two Kalros badges. Players could compete against eachother to collect more badges and maybe a competitive leaderboard could start similar to Ranked but based off of Badges won. This would add a whole new competitive scene to fishing beyond just Whaler, and Master Whaler.

Fishing Data for comparison:
Fished for around 18 Hours, came to about 108 Fish per Hour

The data suggests a log normal curve with a pareto tail. Fatten dat boi up and give me some big ass fish. (Make the tail heavier)

I took my samples of 1900 fish and put them in chatgpt for an analysis. I told them to increase projected sample size to 100k Fish caught and got this in return.

WITH 100000 FISH CAUGHT THERE WAS 0 PROJECTED FISH THAT ARE IN THE 240-250 MARK WHICH IS INSANE TO ME. I get it's rng and all but at a sample size of 100000 fish (~925 hours of fishing) And not getting something that is even close to being in the realm of master whaler is ridiculous.

What do you think about the way Fish are generated on Loka? Would you like to see any of this be added? Please let me know what you think about this and any other questions, comments, or concerns in the reply section, and make sure that this is talked about! The Fishing community on Loka needs an update!!!

That chatgpt analysis is wrong. Titanic fish are very rare, but on average after 100k fish you would have caught multiple of them.

The prompt I gave it was between 240-250 (To catch near the master whaler area) not in the Titanic range.
It's still wrong even with that range. Also, 240-250 is not "near the master whaler area", it IS the master whaler area.

Could you show me the curve that Loka uses then instead of me having to find out through a 'somewhat' small sample size? And Master Whaler is at 247 right now so if you want to be real the master whaler area is 247-250 which is a 3 pound difference so I added the 40-50 just so it would be somewhat feasible and it still wasnt

Or perhaps prove that it would be wrong through your own testing?

The probabilities are a secret but I know chatgpt is wrong because I'm staring at the code. Also, there is a fishing policy that would significantly increase your chances at breaking the record if you can somehow convince a capital to pick it 😂

On the actual subject of updating fishing, I always thought it'd be cool to make catching the larger fish a minigame like stardew valley:

Could also add different ways of boosting catch rates and sizes like custom crafting recipes for different baits.

I like the bait idea

Nobody has picked the fishing policy like ever...

Loka NEEDS a fishing content update and I would love for fishing to be different than it is now.

Also the display of fish caught by Trawler is not working. itd be cool if you fixed that
