Hey Loka. Almost two years ago, on 2/20/23, I made a mistake. One that seemed insignificant at that moment, but grew on me after every second that I said it.
After losing a ranked duel, my immaturity got the better of me. I decided, to piss of the person who just beat me, and message them something along the lines of: “why is your internet so bad? Did a building collapse on your router?”. The person I said this to, happened to be Turkish. Just to jog your memory incase if you have forgotten about it, there was an earthquake in Turkey claiming the lives of over 55,000 individuals. Now, with that context, imagine if you were the receiver of that message. There is a high likelihood that someone you know died an agonizing death, and now someone you don’t even know from a MINECRAFT SERVER is mocking your loss. I happened to be the guy mocking the victim in that situation, not realizing the severity of my message. Soon after, I was muted. At the time, I was angry that I had to face the consequences, but now, looking back almost two years later, I am filled with nothing but regret about it and whatever emotional distress I caused the person.
Looking back at it now, I think this served as a learning experience and helped shape who I am today. I hope that I have changed as much as I think I have, while I dont think apologizing will ever change the distress I have caused that player, I hope that they have moved on from what I have said, and I wish them and their family a safe future and for those they lost to finally be at peace.
I hope that I can finally reintegrate back into the community and give back something positive to those who need it.
