Hearts of Iron IV: Renatus Char | A Developers Diary | Version 1.0.1 | Yuletide Armistice

I remember talking about this as a possibility with so many people years ago during the EP/Cov war years ago. Excited to see the future of this and it’s just so insane to me to see it made reality
Funnily enough, I still remember this conversation from like 3 months before the creation of this thread.

I was able to locate the issue to why the mod doesn't work past 1.12.14, but the issue is, there are two files, the province map, and province definition files.

It'll take me ages to read through both things.
 
I test created a new mod, and that works in the newer version, so I have zero clue why everything is broken. I might have to recreate the map entirely in 1.15.2, and that's gonna... gonna be fun :/
 
A Yuletide Gift will be finished and released later tonight for you all after I finish some assignments for college and birthday celebrations. It shouldn't be too much to add, just some flavor

Update Log
A Flavor update has been added to the mod and is released as of the posting of this update log. The idea circulated around the concept of the Christmas Truce of 1914 and has been given a Lokan flavoring. Each major war, the Sylvan & Aladran Civil War and the major continental wars on Kalros, Ascalon, & Garama, have been given unique news events that correlate with their own Truces. There is also a special event if global peace has been secured before 2035 that relates to Yuletide after the global war ends.

Other Fixes
- Fixed several focuses in the Aladran Focus Tree that did nothing.
- Gave some update fixes to the Stromgarde Focus tree
- Gave Stromgarde some more buffs that should help them win more
- Added more adjacencies that should help with late-game wars
- Added more Loading Screens.
- Updated the Defines File, which should help reduce mod weight.
- Updated all Minecraft Server information for LokaMC.
- Added the Renatus Char Discord invite to the mod.
- Updated several localizations for capitulation events that didn't exist on launch.
- Removed Preksak

I'm going to be putting this on pause for a long while, things have just been feeling really down for a while, and honestly I just need some time to myself. Not sure how long my break will be.
 
Developer Diary #9 // Future of the Mod
Hey Folks, Kaleno here. Welcome to another Developer Diary. Only a few things need to be discussed, but it is necessary to inform you all if you're interested in the development of this mod.

Current Status
The mod is currently still undergoing renovations as I work on the next update, so do not worry, the next update will be posted eventually, when? I have zero clue, but it is being worked on with whatever freetime I have.

Future Status
There's no easy way to say this, but over the past few months, and arguably even before that, and 3/4ths of the way through the development of this mod, I've been growing less and less active in the Loka Community. Why am I? Good question that I will not be answering, but regardless, I've been finding it harder and harder to get myself to log onto Loka, and therefore have been growing more inactive as a result.

This in itself isn't a killer for any project, except for the fact that I'm using real people as characters for the mod. While it is explained multiple times that I don't represent their views, it just feels weirder to be using people as characters for my story when I don't even know them, and that's amplified by my general lack of activity. Which is I guess now in hindsight why certain towns have a lot more content & development than others, such as Vinovia, Sylvis, Southern Valyria, Volterra & Aladra, especially.

I've had plans for all towns to eventually have content, and even updated content, but that's realistically not coming to fruition, and with a general lack of progress or will to continue, this developer diary, I've come to make an announcement. After the next major update, I will not be updating the mod with anymore new content. Maintain it, yes, I'm fine with that, keep the mod up to date with HOI4 so it doesn't fall into the trash bins of time. But I will not be working on any more content or story for this after the update due to my general growing inactivity on Loka, and my time developing it straining my own solo hands and resources.


So, is that the end of the Mod?
It's only the end if you wish to make it the end. All the tools for a developed Loka HOI4 mod have been made; you can create submods that update certain towns if you wish, or you can reuse the map for a real working Conquest System if you can manage that, but I will not be working on any more content officially. If you wish to use this to develop your future Loka HOI4 Projects, then it's completely in your hands to do so, but as of the next major update, it will not be in mine to work on anymore.

Sorry to disappoint some of you, but this was going to come eventually, and while I loved working on the mod, many factors are driving me away from it that I shouldn't ignore for my own well-being. This has helped me to develop many tools and ideas surrounding HOI4 modding and coding in general, and has helped me to get through some of the harder years of my life, It's something I have to part ways with soon due to the low levels of enjoyment and true fulfillment it has brought me.
