History Lesson

Well I've already posted threads in every other section of the forums so I might as well invade the Lore section as well. Don't worry though I have a good reason for being here!

As has become clear, Loka is old by any servers standards. There is a ton of lore here and I've always loved lore. When I play games for a long amount of time I myself like to write down stories to keep track of everything that has happened. I'd like to start recording my own stories here but first I'd like a History lesson.

In however many words you'd like I'd love the Story of Loka in its entirety. I want to learn about this land and I want to help craft its future.

Yeah I looked through the wiki a bunch but like most wikis they can get out of date pretty quickly. In the future I'll probably try and record events I've been around for.

Aside from the latest world event, that particular page Jedi linked is a pretty succinct description of the story so far. Not sure there's been much in the way of detailed lore updated on the Wiki lately however.

Feel free to ask about a specific event/character though and a number of us can better describe it!

One thing in particular I'm interested in is the religions of loka. Have their been established regions and what would the names of the gods and goddesses be? I once played on a server where instead of facoins or towns, players were separated by their religions. Each religion had dietary restrictions and scared plants and animals. Along with this they would also pray at altars and preform tasks for their God/Godess. In return they could get rewards and benefits.

Obviously I'm not asking for a whole new system or anything, I've just always found religions can add an extra fun depth to a server.

I'll probably have more questions in the future so hold tight!

Dellsmite had some kind of religion, but by religion I mean I built a church that stood empty until Artagan decided to put on his white collar and hold a sermon while we ran around on the pews and drank beer. He would prattle on about something about pigs and diet Norse gods he made up, but church was always boring to me so I ignored most of it.

He generally talked about Freyjia and Antioch.

(/me tries to remember her own history lessons)

Freyjia, the Goddess of Asgard, has appeared to the people of Loka many times to help us or to guide us. She warned us of the Obelisk, which unleashed the Blight that destroyed the second world, or Ak.

Once Freyjia mentioned her father did not like her assisting us, so we can assume there are other Vanir, or maybe even Æsir that know of us.

Antioch is a God primarily worshipped by the Computernites. If I'm correct, he takes the form of a pig, and speaks to his followers through a priest. (I hope I got that right.)

I know some people in Dragostei worshipped a leaf or something, and somewhere there was a golden chicken called Aukoc. I don't know much about these two.

Lore is literally my favourite thing about Loka (okay I lied, Lore is second to community) and I'm absolutely thrilled to have another person here who's so interested in it. Ask all the questions you want!

I'm glad to see the Norse Mythology influences. I'm also a massive fan of mythology with one of my favorites being Norse followed closely by Greek and Egyptian (Yes, I did play Age of Mythology).

Anyway given my towns location in the North I've been looking to establish a following of the Norse gods. Religious influences leads to interesting builds and interesting positions for players. Imagine if you will the capital of the Norse religion being a town which has created a massive altar. You could have entire sections of people with loyalty to something beyond just their towns and alliances.

But yeah I'm really interested in Lore, if you're interested in the story I wrote about my last game I played called March of Empires, I'll link it here. My hope would be to write stories similar to this but about Loka.
