Dear Loka Community,
Most of you will know me by names such as yavuy, pqx, zub3n, among others. Few will have seen the account Jepen actually play on Loka, because over the past 2 years I've been alting, even though I only got formally banned on December 13th, 2024.
I started alting on yavuy to draw away suspicion from it being an alt account on other servers, since no person would decide alting on Loka was a good idea, unless they were ban evading. Since the account Jepen wasn’t banned at the time, it made for a really good cover. Even after yavuy got screenshared and subsequently banned, nearly no one knew it was me until I admitted to it.
I really enjoyed the attention I received on the account. Everyone knew it was an alt, constantly reporting/mentioning it in public chats, but nobody knew who actually played on the account. All my subsequent alts were me trying to chase that thrill again. After nearly 1 and a half years of alting, I lost all joy in the activity.
Ignoring the fact alting is not allowed (due to gameplay limitations circumvented by alt accounts), I will name three reasons as to why it's not a good idea for the server community you will inevitably have to interact with, for the health of the server that you're trying to alt on, and the individual themselves alting.
First, to a majority of players, it's frustrating/humiliating when a new player logs onto Loka, fights them, kills them, and they don't know the person who actually beat them. Due to the constant influx of alt accounts over the past few years, this has caused a lot of recruits who don't die within 10 seconds to be labeled as alt accounts, recieve mass reports, and have to sit for over an hour on their desks while Loka staff waste their time screensharing them. This puts innocent players in the crosshairs of Loka staff and stunts their growth on the server. With you alting, you contribute to this issue.
Second, the town owners of the town you join as an alt account are put in danger through you alting. Should you (and you will) be caught alting, your town owners are at risk of being banned for assisting your ban evasion. If they actually did assist you, this can hurt your friendship with them and get them banned, and if they didn't, it just puts innocent players in the crosshairs of Loka staff because you decieved them. This makes town leaders incredibly paranoid and, in some cases, unwilling to recruit new players out of fear. With you alting, you contribute to this issue.
Third, your own reputation and mental health will be hurt from alting. I'm mostly known for alting, for having lied to people about who I am, among other things. This put me in a vicious cycle, where the only way to "escape" is to either quit until people forget about you (which on Loka would take multiple years), or start a new identity (i.e., alt). Even if I get unbanned, I will still be known as the person who alted on yavuy, pqx, or other accounts. This has caused a lot of my friends over the years to distrust me, and in some cases, cut me off. With you alting, you put yourself and your image at risk.
My ban appeal is meant to be a cautionary tale to anyone who is thinking about alting/ban evading on Loka. I apologize to anyone whose experience I've ruined while alting, and the staff whose time I've wasted. I didn't realize my remorse wasn't showing enough. It can be fun to alt on servers where it is allowed, but one shouldn't do it when it's explicitly banned. I hope I get given another chance, so I can play the server honestly again.
