Slicer
Age: 15
Current rank: Slicer
Role I'm applying for: Librarian
Why I think I should have this role: I want to become a bigger part of this server and think that this is a way for me to do that and have fun at the same time. I also want to start a project with the other Librarians about the entire history of Loka. I also want to promote writing books and creating more lore and history so the server can grow and new members can view it's lengthy history. Theres so much to Loka that can be explained in books and in ancient texts that can also bring around more roleplaying and give Loka a smoother style when it comes to literature.
When I started playing: April 23rd 2017
Time Zone: Uk BST
Playtime: most days, average playtime around 5 mins to over an hour
Examples of previous writing/lore: four books published in the library and three pieces of lore written in the forums as well as a new wiki page that is still in the making (town lore section of the wiki).

Had the pleasure of being around jmeatball for about three years now. First found his love for lore and literature on a past server and he has become a much more dedicated and skilled writer from then on. He is not someone asking for the cute title next to his name, he's going to take is seriously and do the job. Very respectful and a great person to be around as well!

I feel like the current Librarians we have are much more inactive than they used to be so this would be a great time to add jmeatball to the great librarian team on loka.
+1

Care to elaborate? I value constructive critisism
Not going to go too into it to avoid a full forums argument but to put it simply you lied about something recently and personally I don't trust people who have lied about me or created rumors related to me going into staff positions.

If this is payback for what I said on forums, I didn't mean it as an insult. I also do not remember lying about what I said since I carefully calculated it, and when I was referring to constructive criticism, I meant on my writing, but I'll be more cautious about what I say if it makes you feel any better.

This is about his lore writing, not his overall conduct as a player. you have the right to put a -1, but this is a really dumb reason. now, I don't want to start an argument, so that's all I'll say here, but I just ask you to consider jmeatball's writing, and not what jmeatball has said to you.

Ok, but how he conducts himself is 100% relevant in applying to any positions.

I 100% agree with sky.
When applying for any rank whether it be Loka or another server, it is usually crucial that someone not only is good at the skill they are applying for but also have a good conduct on Loka towards others and has a history of being unbiased and truthful. With the rank Librarian, it isn't just a rank good lore writers hold but also a rank that determines which books can and cannot be shown in the spawn library. Which is why I worry that me and others could be discriminated against as he has shown negativity towards me and my friends throughout our time on the server, and could act impulsively if he chose to do so and reject books simply because they're by people he dislikes.

This is a good time to point out something (unrelated to the application) I see a lot of people do perhaps unintentionally and subconsciously that doesn't benefit applications and nominations too much. (Keep in mind this isn't necessarily directed at you exclusively, Beetee, and more of the general collective).

The concern that someone's negative interactions with you prohibit them from a position of some power (however minimal as this case is) is itself a form of bias. However, that's not the important part I wanted to discuss. It's perfectly legitimate to have this concern about someone, but people need to go the extra step and then decide whether or not the person in question has shown examples of them compromising their integrity. In that way, you can then more clearly and successfully voice your concern about whether or not someone's interactions with you will lead them to wield their power in an unfair way. In addition, you will likely be able to cite specific examples that will prevent your comment from being largely disregarded as they are in some cases.

Sorry for the off-topicness, but it's my hope that more people will see this and we can all have a better conversation about nominations and applications.

too many words

From what I have seen, I've been led to believe that what jmeatball said was absolutely true, but that's completely irrelevant to the discussion. This is a librarian application, not a slicer one. A librarian application has to do with his lore writing, not "he offended me so I'm gonna take him down when he does something completely unrelated." I personally think that this is extremely immature of you and bigsky123 to be trying to ruin his application. Granted, he does have flaws, but those are not in his lore writing, which is what this application is about. If you're just angry because of a -1 on your application, then you are very unlikely to get Slicer and you're basically taking yourself down with this by acting really dumb. If not, it's still irrelevant to the topic.

Thanks for reading,

Stop trying to reignite some sort of argument or create something that isn’t there, the last thing we want to see is his application locked and I think Sparky said something we can all agree with and if you had listened to what we actually said was that we were concerned he wouldn’t put personal issues aside when it came to choosing which books to display in the library. If you want to have a mature debate then PM me instead of creating unnecessary drama on a forum post related to jmeatball’s application for Librarian
