☕ Exciting Updates to Loka's Content Development Team!

Greetings, Lokans! As some of you may already know, the Content Development Team is responsible for bringing thrilling quests, immersive mobs, stunning terrain, key locations, unique NPC skins, and custom textures to life on Loka.

On behalf of myself and @Mocc1, we want to take the time today to share some exciting developments regarding Loka's Content Development Team.

🚀 DEVELOPMENT LEADS

You might be asking why we're posting this announcement—it's because myself and @Mocc1 are now acting as Development Team Leads!

Going forward, we will be responsible for managing the team, overseeing project progress, and handling incoming applications. While @Cryptite and @Magpieman will still be overseeing the team as a whole (and us too!), we will be working each day to support the team more directly and streamline the development process.

📋 STREAMLINED ROLES & COLLABORATION

To clarify responsibilities, we’ve refined the development team's roles:
  • ⚙️Quest Designer – Configure and create quests.
  • 🖊️Dialogue Writer – Craft immersive dialogue and story beats for quests.
  • 👾Mob Developer – Script Mythic Mobs for quests.
  • 🎨Artist – Design NPC skins, textures, and resource pack assets.
  • 🔨Builder – Construct key locations, schematics, display entity decorations, and quest instances.
  • 🌎World Builder – Create stunning new biomes and terrain.
One of our main goals with this new breakdown of responsibilities is to drive collaboration within the team, making it less fragmented by role and more tight-knit. We're also moving to a project-based development structure, where ongoing projects will each have a project lead and developers assigned based on interest/skillset. Other team members interested in contributing to a project will now touch base with a Development Lead directly to join. This approach will keep the Development Team more focused but also more cohesive. Additionally, it will make it easier for new Loka Content Developers to adjust to their role and Loka's content development process.

🗂️ UNIFIED APPLICATION PROCESS

With the new roles that we've defined, we're also unifying the application process. From now on, applicants will only have to make one application that will allow them to express their interest in multiple roles. Gone are the days of posting separate applications if you want to pursue multiple roles! This approach will put applicants into roles they are both interested in and have the skillset for. Whether you're interested in designing quests, writing dialogue, making mobs, creating art, or building for Loka, you can now holistically showcase your talents and join the team with a single application.

🎉 THE PATH AHEAD

These updates are going to help better organize and maintain the high standards that define Loka’s content. While the Development Team will remain largely in the background, trust that we will be hard at work bringing new content to Loka. We've got several very exciting projects in the works.

If you’re interested in joining the team, know that we're always on the lookout for more Content Developers and that you absolutely do not need to meet all the requirements to join the team. Be sure to consider Submitting an Application Here if you have any interest!

Otherwise, if you have any questions or just want to learn more about what it means to be a Content Developer, reach out to Foxy (granticius) or Mocc (mocc1) on Discord. We're happy to answer your questions and chat with you!

Go Forth!

🗒️ A NOTE FROM THE DEVELOPMENT LEADS

“For over four years I've been working on the Loka Development Team, and I've enjoyed every second of it. From Nyx quests to The End of an Era, Gank Isle, Waterstone, and this year's holiday content. It's been quite a journey working on the development team and I'm excited to push the next chapter of Loka's development in a positive direction.”

I created Oceans, Cherry Grove, Mangrove, and Zyre Cove. I've also had the pleasure of bringing the past three years of holiday content to life. I’m passionate about developing for Loka and fully dedicated to its continued success.”
