As of now i was told chests don't regenerate in ruins. That could lead to people who want to see templates getting rarer and more pricy to go and destroy all chests in ruins, which would not be a good thing. I would also imagine some people could destroy them just because its funny because its irreversible. Someone has already done this to cryptic cove. Therefore i think chests should also regenerate like normal blocks in ruins.
