Hello and Good Day
Age: 21
Current rank: Slicer
Which role you are applying for: PvE
Why you think you should become this role: Loka is this weird thing. It's a towny server with every bell and whistle I could think of and more. I came out here after the death of my old mineman home (RIP LoM </3) and I loved it. Of all the things that I was looking for, I think community topped the list. And despite every conflict, every "Admin is bias reeeeeee" I had the pleasure of uttering, I found that community here. Y'all've provided me with a ton of content. Two years worth. I'd like to think this is the very least I can do to return the favor. To put in what I got out.
As stated before, I've been around for two years, building spawn/town jobs, new player handbooks, and recently attempting some fun event planning with my good friend Pac_Man_ (For Builder). On the old server I ran events, worked with and against various RP gangs and ghouls, and participated in the many RP encounters we would find ourselves in. After that, I joined a team of folks I knew in hopes of building a quest-focused server (think Wyncraft but less grindy) called Heroes of Volantis. Sadly RIP it never got off the ground but I got a bunch of experience as a quest / npc developer in the few months we had there along with some copy-paste style building. As for tech skills, I have a tiny understanding of MythicMobs and customized items just from work with those sorts of devs on the Volantis project but I'd love to learn just what the boundaries of those technologies could be.
That's about it! Thanks for reading and I hope I can help this home grow.
When you started playing on the server: December 8th, 2016
Time zone: EST (Server Time)
How often do you play (hours a day/week): Depending on classes and what's going on, between 3 and 10 hours a week
Favourite NPC on Loka: Byran, as I too enjoy early festivities. I put Frank Sinatra on blast November 1st.
Example of a quest you would write if you were accepted:
NPC: Medeth (M-eh-deth) Old man with a long white beard. A classic story-teller physic.
Medeth sits by the fire among the tents of the War District, mesmerized by his memories of times long past.
You attempt a conversation, but only receive mumbled fragments of history widely forgotten.
Medeth: hmph! If only the golden apples stopped rotting. Then we'd have had them running!
You finally manage to break the old man's thousand yard stare.
Medeth: Oh! My, I didn't see you there!
You ask him to share one of his famous stories, to which he happily complies!
Medeth: A story, aye? Ho' yes yes, I have many of them. Have a seat and I'll tell you a tale.
A text option appears, asking if you would like to delve into the old man's story.
[Yes!] [Maybe Later]
Medeth has lived in Aladra since the ships first sailed. His stories will detail the greatest player-developed events Loka has to offer! He will speak of great wars and fantastic weddings, spectacular monuments and dazzling tournaments! The old man's mind is not what it once was, however. Be prepared for some wildly embellished tales as he adds some spice to the story!
The player is brought to a dream world in which the story takes place. The player (potentially a party of players) acts as the protagonist in a scene controlled and narrated by Old man Medeth. The party must complete objectives in the scene as the old man describes them.
When the objectives are completed and the scene is finished, the party will be brought back to the land of Aladra and given a memento (could be ./b item) from the scene so that they too can recall the story.
~Fin~
This system can, of course, be changed up to fit lokan needs/capacity. I know the building of a scene per story can be taxing on the build team. The hope is that with new stories coming out maybe a month apart and the general size of each scene (smaller), the resources could be developed during available time after major server projects.
Thanks for the read!
