As of yet no 1.7 snapshots have been released, but Mojang is very slowly giving us an idea of what will be included in this update and some features have been leaked. Until a snapshot is released I will divide this post into three categories: Confirmed Updates, Hinted/Speculation, and Images.

The skylands world type will be like large biome and super flat, so it won't be accessible on Loka (unless Crypt adds a skyland world).

Well ya know, just because that's the way minecraft will generate in the future doesn't mean we can't tweak it for our server. Our idea for the new world isn't dying, it's just encountering some problems we'll have to work around.

These are definitely coming, but it may not be in 1.7. The current plan is to add new fish and a chance to catch enchanted fishing rods, name tags, and boots in addition to the typical haul.

Are boots different from shoes? Also awesome, nametags won't be finite anymore and fishing will actually be worthwhile.

The plans we had for this new world, not the world itself. We can change our plans, but we aren't changing worlds again for quite some time.

The plan for this world (and the reason we have the world border) is so we can open up new sections of the world for new patches when seeds change. The hope was that big oceans would make the 'seam' less visible, but it seems like there's just going to be some world sculpting required to bridge the gaps.

Essentially, the current world boundaries as they are now are going to remain the 1.6 chunks and then come 1.7 we'll extend the border somehow and we'll have ourselves a land rush.

It looks like Mycelium biomes will be much closer to shore than previously. In the example image there even seems to be one leaking onto the shore. This was possible before and we even had one swamp/mycelium island on the old world, but it was incredibly rare. The trade-off is that they are less than half as common (though they are never common to begin with on large biome worlds).
