This is not a poll about whether these generators should exist or not.

If you don't know already we will very soon have generators specifically for our nether area. They will have the radius of our surface generators divided by 8. By default they will be off, but you can turn them on for an additional fee. A few days ago Asymp implemented part of the code that gave us protection in our nether region. This was completely free and on by default. It is still very much a WIP though so don't expect it to be up 24/7.


My question is this:
Should we be able to set our town portal for this nether region for quick access to nether hubs and such?

I vote no, because I figured most people would vote yes and I really don't care
 
They provide almost no benefit and are just something else to go wrong. Building a nether portal by your town portal is a simple way of doing what you want. It literally takes a couple more seconds. Also not all towns will have their nether protection up and the protection could go down allowing people to break the portal. There is just no point to this.

This, there's no purpose to it.

Unless someone wanted to make a nether town...

Why not? The nether protection of hyrule is bigger than some of the over world towns. Also, if a town wants to have their portal in the nether, it should be their choice. They should accept the risk that something could go wrong.

If nether protection goes down then so will the portal. It's just like on the surface.

Also, what's to stop someone from making a surface gen and building entirely in the nether?
 
Who, besides HC, would use this?

Also, for the record, town portals will function regardless of whether their frame physically exists or not.

Dunno. HC would definitely benefit from this because we're the ones asking, but it would open the option for everyone else.
 
I think it would be pointless. I honestly don't care either way but if I had to choose. I would choose no. Isnt one good enough to have in the over world?
