Suggestion Orbs/Shards for Map Arts

I wanted to create some big pictures to put on my wall and create a schedule map for my next tournament but would need something to be 3x3 or 4x4. If you haven't done a map art before, it's nearly impossible to do in a reasonable amount of time without auto-place.

For a number of orbs or shards, an NPC should be able to convert an image link into a map art. It would cost more orbs for a higher quality map and/or more maps

My reasoning for this is mainly due to the fact that some tiles are inherently better at making map arts due to the way the chunks line up. Some tiles may be completely unable to fit a map art, and because of this it's difficult to find a safe spot that's outside of your tile, either partially or completely.

Adding an NPC to convert images to map art would encourage people to be more creative with their towns and create posters/signs which were previously a multiple-week process into a simple NPC.

I like this idea a lot tbh. Definitely would be good for getting more maparts around Loka without having ugly platforms in towns, although if the tech for image conversion isn't possible it may need to be something more along the lines of a world to build them in.

An alternate option if we wanted to keep the time/value in map arts is for us to have a creative build world from which players could import their maps. We would likely add a creative world at some point in the future to allow players to plan out their towns, so this would be an extension to that. A possible issue with images being turned into maps with such ease is it increases the chances of offensive ones being made and it would be difficult to monitor. Still a cool idea though.

Could have like an admin approval needed like the town naming process or religions.

It doesn't sound that stressful imo. There's no reason it has to be done in the same day submitted and it acts as a way to prevent people breaking rule 5.6.

Ofc it's not up to me and I wouldn't be doing it, but it's really just another type of request like alliance names, religions, forum appeals etc.

I'm just thinking this as it just adds more work, more common than name changes. Could be wrong.

I don't think map art should be something that you can skip by paying shards or orbs. Maybe make it so you can pay for a map to be unable to be copied so you can make non replicable map arts.

idk man making a map art in survival aint so bad
There's no way to enlarge maps so if you want a large scale map you have to make 10+ individual maps and I think it would be cool to see large sets like the mando one jib made.

yes its cool until every player and his dog owns a 10x10 mapart that was printed in for shards

mapart has value cause its expensive and time consuming to make, tbh it would make more sense if the server could add a feature to copy protect maps so they could be sold without people copying them out

Nothing is preventing me from copying your lore sword, brewer design, buildings, town systems, etc.
What makes map art different?
Even if you were to add a system to prevent copying of maps, what's stopping me from just remaking the map art in my town?
This suggestion is about a system to make larger maps possible, what the pricing would be to prevent everyone and their dog getting a 10x10 is up for debate. If the price to get such a large map is a big hurdle just like building the map art in the first place, did it really wreck the map art prices, or did it just make map art more available?

The for sure thing to prevent anyone and their dog from getting a 10x10 mapart is the item frame limit.

I think that should be what we should aim to do. Make it so that things become rare rather than mass produced commodities.

yes but then you're actually putting effort into making it, printing it for shards is effortless and just makes mapart have less of a value as much as copying it does
