Suggestion Orbs/Shards for Map Arts

I'd argue that us having cool map arts is worth more than the map art market becoming saturated.

Me thinking is, if the lore sword market is constantly growing it's not impossible for this suggestion and a actual map art market to be viable. Fwiw, map arts basically lose their worth in like a month because of how easy it is for anyone to copy it?

Wish it were like this with lore too. A way to check authenticity of kills and see if it is not a fake. A way to see if a map art is an original and if it has been duplicated. Ways to keep value on items.

yes but then you're actually putting effort into making it, printing it for shards is effortless and just makes mapart have less of a value as much as copying it does
I think that should be what we should aim to do. Make it so that things become rare rather than mass produced commodities.
I don't see how you want a map (of all things) to be the thing that should hold an immense amount of value.

I think there should be an item of legitimate use or rarity in order to fit this bill rather than the equivalent of an image.

Things that take a lot of time should hold value. Lore with lots of kills - takes a lot of time, making large complex map arts - takes a lot of time. Now it would be upload image, here is $5 now I have a map art. Making things that used to take hours or days to make into getting a couple bucks isn't the direction we should be looking to go in my opinion. I think making lore and map arts more valuable by eliminating duplication is worth doing.

yet again you cant simply remove duplication as someone can just remake it or just simply get a copy. I could also sit invis under where you're making the map and take my own of it and there's not a whole lot you can do to prevent duplication. My brewer designs also took an immense amount of time to make, but once I've built one in someone's town, there's nothing stopping them from duplicating it.

I'm fairly certain that no one has a one-off map art on loka, and if it is, it's not being very valuable since its just sitting on a wall. Something like a player head would be something that would be a rarity since someone can make the skin, but the right-click proves it is a legitimate head. I have no issue showing the legitimacy of a map and where it came from, but eliminating duplication is simply not feasible.

Yet again, I want to open the door for people to have map arts that can't safely make them in their town or don't have the restricted resources to get the colors needed. 6A 3D built map with higher color definition is worth orbs and the other ones are just for shards would make it so you aren't getting a quick buck, and opening it up to people who don't have the means to spend irl money on a map art.

Talked with the boy @jakeman5 about this, we came with a pretty good consensus on what would be good for the current map art economy and the future.

The map art npc would provide a shard sink, lowering the inflation.

Maps would come as two tiers,
  1. Default
    • These would cost only shards and be priced so making map arts are still viable.
    • Price would decrease as the number of map arts in circulation grows.
  2. High Definition
    • These would be the 3-dimensional maps as shown below, would cost the same amount of shards
    • These would require additional orbs on top of the shards in order to get the extra quality.
    • 1644898206345.png
Maps would also be similar to written books, with an Original, and Copy of original. This would allow for maps to still be valuable. Take the example below.
  • Jakeman5 purchases a 3x2 map for 40,000 shards.
  • Jakeman sells FroggyFruit a Copy of Original map, unable to be copied for 20,000 shards.
  • Rather than purchasing a new map for the same amount, Froggy was able to get the map for less, and allow Jakeman to make some of his money back.
  • This would still allow players to make money off of map arts and prevent copying of map arts for free, devaluing them.
have a creative build world from which players could import their maps.
In regard to this, allowing players to import a map would also go through this npc, and cost a similar amount of shards.
This would also allow people to create maps of their builds on the build server in survival./

After some deliberation if people really want to have that resource sink I feel like this feature would be best suited as a pocket dimension or something for maps that you could enter into from spawn (or your town) and just build away. This would keep the uggo mapart platforms out of towns and keep the resource cost that I think is seen as useful.

To be fair I do like this idea as well.

the time and resources put into making one map creates its value, and having an instant system of making maps totally wrecks that value. I think a system of minting your nfts on the blockchain should be in order
