I've got too many ideas to make a thread for each one so I'm just going to start compiling them into one big thread. Some are viable, some aren't.

New:

  • A long time ago the command /g motd would display the current motd. This was useful for those of us that kept coordinates in there. Could this return?
  • Better /vote rewards
  • Simpler industry creation
  • Allow towns to use /g industry create to view the levels required for each industry, even if they don't qualify for any at the moment.
Previous:
  • Rare donkey spawns in the swamp biome
  • A tape measure tool that isn't WorldEdit
  • Ocean territories for the inevitable failure of underwater towns
  • Town anthems made using an allotted number of music blocks
  • An NPC that can be used to claim lost, but previously obtained holiday items. It'd really free up some ender chest space.
  • A capital policy that increases the damage dealt to the elytra of foreigners
  • Feedback when deleting a report you've submitted
  • Custom recipe for lily pads
  • Method of obtaining farmer villagers so they can help out on the wheat farm
  • Alchemy industry which houses a scientist who eats nether wart in exchange for his potions and secondary material scavenging
  • Fix /pvp so we can level battlegrounds and arenas
  • Menagerie industry which functions like a barn but is specifically for the rarer mobs. You can keep things like endermen, bats, squid, ocelots, etc. They have their AI removed to reduce lag/prevent escape and you receive their drops like the barn.
  • Custom recipe for decorative mob spawners
  • Remake the End to make it bigger, more dangerous, and repair the damage done that isn't being regenerated
  • Title for completing the exploration achievements
  • Honorary title for making substantial contributions to the wiki
  • Ability to send written books via /mail
  • Add a toggle to allow town owners to visualize their borders
  • Disable boats in the End, but slightly increase the rate of pearl drops
  • Make industry biome modifiers public knowledge
  • Decrease the rarity of strange mote drops so we don't all have to apply for Sentry
  • Unbury /c from the towns menu and give it its own /help category
  • Rebalance port shipments
  • Move /p from the town /help category to general
  • Make a public hi-scores table for the most dragon eggs, sponges, etc. so we know who to hit up on the next raid
  • Allow anyone to use the /spawn command while on Aladra for people who get stuck in random holes
  • Add a map of Earth somewhere on the website so we can pin our rough locations and see how Lokans are distributed
  • Make Smash Mouth the official religion of Loka
  • Add a warning when you craft end crystals so people don't accidentally blow up their house
  • Allow town owners to toggle fire-spread on for leaves only
  • Allow religions to name Saints
  • Return the Loka currency to cookies because everyone knows cookies are better

My personal view on these things :P

Color codes:
| Red = Disagree | Green = Agree | Gray = Not sure | Blue = WHAT? | Purple = Already got this |
  • Rare donkey spawns in the swamp biome - The Shrek Refference.... yup. But no thanks.
  • A tape measure tool that isn't WorldEdit - I support this. Maybe a custom item. But using math to distance stuff, is sometimes painful, if a mistake is made.
  • Ocean territories for the inevitable failure of underwater towns - Right now - a town that doesnt own any territory could ONLY mine underneath itself and THE OCEAN.... meaning, it could then only mine within the resource isle from then on. I do would like maybe a 4th continent, when new content comes out to have lots of ocean territories. Would be annoying and fun of above water or under water fights.
  • Town anthems made using an allotted number of music blocks. - Great idea. but how would one record the note blocks, and their order, and pauses, and speed... sounds QUITE complicated.
  • An NPC that can be used to claim lost, but previously obtained holiday items. It'd really free up some ender chest space. - Only if the items could become untradeable, and if dropped - then gone till reclaimed. Thats how it is in Runescape. The rares that can be exchanged shouldnt be re-obtained
  • A capital policy that increases the damage dealt to the elytra of foreigners - Or maybe just the durability decreasing 5x faster.
  • Feedback when deleting a report you've submitted - a comment to the player why his report has been deleted or solved could be cool. i agree
  • Custom recipe for lily pads - stop stealing them from my swamp! i disagree with this one.
  • Method of obtaining farmer villagers so they can help out on the wheat farm - or a sliiiight increase in zombie villagers spawning.
  • Alchemy industry which houses a scientist who eats nether wart in exchange for his potions and secondary material scavenging - I agree. We need a alchemy industry.
  • Fix /pvp so we can level battlegrounds and arenas - Or remove them.
  • Menagerie industry which functions like a barn but is specifically for the rarer mobs. You can keep things like endermen, bats, squid, ocelots, etc. They have their AI removed to reduce lag/prevent escape and you receive their drops like the barn. - Unlike passive barn mobs, these ones keep on spawning. All of them spawn again and again and again. you can kill them. Passive mobs are rare, and unbreedable. So No support.
  • Custom recipe for decorative mob spawners - They would be confusing - on why the dont spawn anything. No need in my opinion.
  • Remake the End to make it bigger, more dangerous, and repair the damage done that isn't being regenerated - agree mostly on the repair part, but it is dangerous alright. Maybe make endermen hostile without looking :D
  • Title for completing the exploration achievements - we got Explorer, but its only for people that bug into unacessible out of map places, or stuff.
  • Honorary title for making substantial contributions to the wiki - Could agree. But dunno.
  • Ability to send written books via /mail - cool idea.
  • Add a toggle to allow town owners to visualize their borders
  • Disable boats in the End, but slightly increase the rate of pearl drops - Yeah. The boats are quite extremely abusable. Like, extremely.
  • Make industry biome modifiers public knowledge - what? Dont understand.
  • Decrease the rarity of strange mote drops so we don't all have to apply for Sentry - what does sentry has in common with strange mote drops?
  • Unbury /c from the towns menu and give it its own /help category - Could be useful, yeap.
  • Rebalance port shipments - Just a little bit.
  • Move /p from the town /help category to general - Yeah. could see this as a thing.
  • Make a public hi-scores table for the most dragon eggs, sponges, etc. so we know who to hit up on the next raid - how could one track that? No support for this.
  • Allow anyone to use the /spawn command while on Aladra for people who get stuck in random holes - within aldara only. could be a thing.
  • Add a map of Earth somewhere on the website so we can pin our rough locations and see how Lokans are distributed - Could. Yeah.
  • Make Smash Mouth the official religion of Loka- Naa.
  • Add a warning when you craft end crystals so people don't accidentally blow up their house - Could, but not a must.
  • Allow town owners to toggle fire-spread on for leaves only - and maybe for logs too. but with a warning. Cutting out the jungle is a pain.
  • Allow religions to name Saints - They have religion titles too. so this is done i belive
  • Return the Loka currency to cookies because everyone knows cookies are better - NEVER!

  • Custom recipe for lily pads - stop stealing them from my swamp! i disagree with this one.

What will you do though when all the lily pads are gone? I collected about 15 stacks today and can now only find a few scattered around. They don't regenerate either except the precious few inside the port area. It's not like this is a very valuable item, it's just cool for aesthetics and certain farms. You might say just go fish them but they're actually less common than saddles which already have their own custom recipe.

So my main thought here is that a lot of players like to keep named pets, but the vanilla code keeping named mobs spawned is not very good. You also can't tether mobs to a fence forever as there is a chance for leads to break whenever a chunk unloads. Mostly the menagerie would be a place to show off your pets and your ability to capture and transport these mobs. For a more practical use it could be used to harvest a small number of pearls, ink, slime balls, or whatever else.

  • Custom recipe for decorative mob spawners - They would be confusing - on why the dont spawn anything. No need in my opinion.

I mean there are mob spawners in the dungeon which sounds like something you'd say on a vanilla server, but it's completely different and likely confusing to an outsider. Lots of things on the server are confusing to outsiders. I think adding one more for the sake of a really cool block wouldn't be too bad.

  • Decrease the rarity of strange mote drops so we don't all have to apply for Sentry - what does sentry has in common with strange mote drops?

I'm not entirely sure what the current policy is for Sentries but I've heard most don't care to grind for recall stones because they can just teleport back to spawn. As it is, the rest of us have to spend a good 30-60 minutes per stone which is never worth it

.
  • Make a public hi-scores table for the most dragon eggs, sponges, etc. so we know who to hit up on the next raid - how could one track that? No support for this.

I dunno. You want me to explain every weird thing I dream up?

Feedback when deleting a report you've submitted - a comment to the player why his report has been deleted or solved could be cool. i agree

Oh and we actually do get feedback when reports are resolved. But I have to delete each report twice to make sure it actually was deleted. I get an error the second time which lets me know it was.

In that case, since that sounds like just an honest, actual bug. Those are better /reported

Ocean territories for the inevitable failure of underwater towns

Very unlikely to happen tbh. Ocean fights are not something we plan to spend a huge amount of resources to create and the current Territory fight just does not function well in the ocean. We are more interested in adding non-claimable islands around the current continents.

An NPC that can be used to claim lost, but previously obtained holiday items. It'd really free up some ender chest space.

I would like to work on how we handle holiday event items and perhaps have a way for players to obtain old ones. Your suggestion is to basically make them soul bound which I wouldn't rule out but it does require some discussion as they are highly sought-after items when raiding/killing players. It's much less fun when everyone has all their items 100% safe.

A capital policy that increases the damage dealt to the elytra of foreigners

We do need to look at how elytras work, but in their current state, a policy like this is a great idea. Atm I feel they are far too op and make travel super quick and risk-free.

Custom recipe for lily pads

We do need some way for items like these and desert shrubs etc to become renewable. This could also be done by having them regen like trees and ice spikes too.

Method of obtaining farmer villagers so they can help out on the wheat farm
Menagerie industry which functions like a barn but is specifically for the rarer mobs. You can keep things like endermen, bats, squid, ocelots, etc. They have their AI removed to reduce lag/prevent escape and you receive their drops like the barn.

Sorry but it ain't going to happen. We don't like fully automated stuff and we are always looking for ways to reduce the number of entities not increase them. I would much rather give towns extra job npc's if anything.

Alchemy industry which houses a scientist who eats nether wart in exchange for his potions and secondary material scavenging

A very common request and we will get to it however it will work more like the Arcanum since it is an artisan industry, not a gathering one. Artisan Industries assist with crafting stage rather than generating resources.

Custom recipe for decorative mob spawners

We have plans for the introduction of many decorative blocks however they will be more difficult to obtain than simply crafting.

Remake the End to make it bigger, more dangerous, and repair the damage done that isn't being regenerated

Something I have wanted for a long time but we have had very little help from our build team. If someone would like to help create a custom end much like our custom nether please do come have a chat with me.

  • Title for completing the exploration achievements
  • Honorary title for making substantial contributions to the wiki

Titles are something I am looking at. They are a bit all over the place atm.

Disable boats in the End, but slightly increase the rate of pearl drops

At first I thought it was a clever use of mechanics but has become a problem not just in the end. Will have to see what other solutions there are to the issue.

Make industry biome modifiers public knowledge

I am always wary releasing information like this since players are quick to exploit them. When we work on website and wiki I will look at what numbers we can make public.

Decrease the rarity of strange mote drops so we don't all have to apply for Sentry

We want items like this to be rare, expensive and end game. We may add more ways to obtain them or make a small change to drops but nothing crazy. If our staff are in their positions for the wrong reasons they quickly lose their perks.

Allow religions to name Saints

Lots of things I want to change about religions. Its still a new feature. Some examples, the owner should be called founder, there should be no true owner but perhaps the 3 followers with the most faith take that role. (perhaps called saints)

Actually thinking about it, are the donation pets still a thing? The main reason behind my idea of the Menagerie is to have a place to collect and show off pets, but an industry should be more than cosmetic. However, if donation pets are a thing then that sort of functions in the same way. We could have both, but then what else could the Menagerie do besides just display things?

Edit: Also removing the AI more or less removes an entity from the game. It's just a bunch of cool looking pixels at that point so it shouldn't affect performance

My own two cents:
Lilypads, albeit rare, are obtainable through fishing. If you're willing to put in the grind for a mending book, you'll easily get a stack of lilies while waiting. Should they be regenerating? Maybe, but ehh...I don't have much support for this one.

Alchemy industry sounds awesome! I especially like the idea of trading nether wart for another reagent like Redstone or glowstone. That sounds so awesome to me!

Increasing the drop rates of strange motes. Although I agree that they can be hard to get, especially when compared to their shard counterparts, I agree with Mag that they should stay low. They give players an incentive to go to, and stay at the Resource Isles for an extended period of time, and for something that's supposed to be end game anyways, it encourages more world pvp, something that we could always use a bit more of.

Increasing drop rates on enderpearls and disabling boats in the end. So, again to endgame materials, enderpearls seems to be one of them. Sure, like many others, I'd love to build an Ender Ender and just call it a day, but clearly it's not like that. Disabling boats removes one safe, kind of efficient farm that players have access to. Although I'm not opposed to this idea, I think it needs to be paired with a change to drop rates. That being said, however: knowing how little the end is regenerated, you will see a ton of two block tall structures with roofs for players to sit under as they, the old-fashioned way, farm endermen. Kind of a trade off on removing the boat farming trick.
And oh, as far as the end regenerating...the Spruce bridge that connects the main land to the end city islands...I built that...back in December. 6 months later and I'm proud to say my baby's still there ;u;

Making a larger end. Yes! Especially with the end cities and having good loot like mending gear and free elytras, I'd like the idea of having more end cities and a larger end. Here's what I propose: a larger end, with more end cities that has regenerating chests with custom loot tables to give us some awesome end game gear, be it mending gear, or diamond blocks, or elytras, or even recall stones! Sounds pretty awesome and over powered, right? Well, what if the player receives a debuff as they enter the end? Like, while they're there, they have indefinite weakness, possibly slowness and mining fatigue, and perhaps a little blindness as well. All of that, paired with strong shulkers and the possibility to call into the void at any second creates a nice, hostile environment for high risk, high reward. It definitely incentivises players to go there for really good loot, but with so many factors working against them, they'd have to treat the end as an end game dungeon and go with a raid party of some kind.

I knew I'd get this argument a lot. Because lily pads are considered a junk fishing item, saddles are actually far more common than they are. You also need a smaller supply of saddles than lily pads. Despite this, we do have a custom recipe for saddles. So why not add one for lily pads? Or even replace saddles with lily pads?

Increasing the drop rates of strange motes. Although I agree that they can be hard to get, especially when compared to their shard counterparts, I agree with Mag that they should stay low. Grindfest is not equal to end game (unless it's Runescape). Anyone with a bow can farm illagers relatively safely on the resource islands. Recall stones are cool, sure, but if it takes an hour to get each one then in no way are they worth it. Where in the world can you be that it would take you an hour to get back to spawn? The only scenario that I can see a use for them is when you've been farming a lot of shulker shells in the End and don't want to risk the trip back. Unfortunately for that argument, there is actually a regenerating end chest in one of the end city towers so it'd be silly not to dump off your shulker shells before making the trip back. This could be addressed with the End rework as already suggested, or by simply adjusting the drop rate of strange mote. The easiest solution would be to make illagers spawn as frequently as they do at night during all times of day. You could also double the drop rate of strange motes requiring more or less 30 minutes per recall stone which is still a fair investment of time. Or, if possible, allow Looting to apply to the strange mote drops.

We do need to look at how elytras work, but in their current state, a policy like this is a great idea. Atm I feel they are far too op and make travel super quick and risk-free.

@Magpieman Oooh speaking of elytras. How about the level 24 or 25 town perk be infinite elytra flight within town borders?

@Cryptite Allow towns to use /g industry create to view the levels required for each industry, even if they don't qualify for any at the moment.

A long time ago the command /g motd would display the current motd. This was useful for those of us that kept coordinates in there. Could this return?

What if we went Hunger Games style and switched Conquest up every few months? For example, one month would be a free for all without any alliances, one month would be continent vs continent, one month potions would be banned.

During a very special month territory fights would be decided by a race where competitors, in pairs, had to steer in opposite directions around a course of ice while their passengers, on horseback, would play games of rock, paper, scissors as they passed each other like a joust.

Thoughts?
