Relaxing Mod Restrictions

Greetings Lokans!

We wanted to make you all aware of a change to the way we're evaluating allowed Client Mods. We've added an addendum to the Client Mods Whitelist (at the bottom) that effectively allows mods based on certain features, rather than requiring us to individually whitelist every existing, and future HUD mod. This addendum exists as an addition to the list of whitelisted mods.

The spirit of the change (what's now allowed as a result of this change) is that Armor Indicators, Saturation Indicators, and Potion Effect Indicators (for yourself only) are now allowed in client mods on Loka.

You can read the precise rule verbage in the updated post, but we wanted to enumerate here some of the reasons why we've made this change:
  • Saves staff having to whitelist loads of similar mods that accomplish virtually the same thing.
  • Most servers allow them and pvpers are used to using them. Loka's known for being fairly strict about things and it can be seen as a turnoff for many new players.
  • These days the majority of players on Loka use mods of some sort (often sharing mod packs), so this lowers the barrier of entry of mods.
  • Saturation, Potion, and Armor indicators are often bundled together so it's impossible to really allow some and not all.
  • It's better for the YouTubes. We don't like hunting down players who screenshare in discord or make youtube videos just because they're using these mods/features. The easier it is to make cool vids about your time on Loka, the better for everyone!
We hope these relaxed restrictions will make for an easier, more fun time on Loka so you can stop worrying about one little saturation mod getting you into trouble.

Go Forth!
