There is a lot of reasons for these taxes, most importantly they limit the inflation. If shards only entered the lokan economy, being infinietly generated by ri miners, the inflation would go crazy. Maybe for people who played for a long time it wouldnt be such a pain (except for the fact that the value of their savings dropped) but it would make it harder for new players to afford stuff.
