In Minecraft Snapshot 1.19.4 prerelease-3...
Official update post

  • Potions have had their colors adjusted to make them more distinguishable from each other
A lot of potions have had their color changed very slightly, such as Turtle Master, Slowness, and Jump Boost...

But most noticeably...

i think this has something to do with colorblind people / people with issues differentiating colors but theres going to be an overlay made pretty much instantly that just makes them the classic colors if this is actually implemented

no you cannot, the colors are hardcoded into the game. the only thing you can change is the shape of the bottles, not the actual color
This is not true, i’ve made a pack for someone who was colorblind to change the strength pot to be yellow, and a regen pot to be dark blue

just get a splash strength potion png from a old pack and put it in a pack for 1.19.4 or just use a old pack boom problem fixed 🤯

not how it works from my experience because when ur making a regular pack the game just always uses the default colors and the most you can change is the pot_overlay texture to make those shades darker or lighter etc but i am pretty sure theres also a way to change the colors in general and people will definitely make a texture pack with the old colors

Essentially how it works is, all vanilla potions have hardcoded color values, and they are applied to a texture called potion_overlay.png - there are no textures for each potion, otherwise, custom potion colors wouldnt be possible, such as the ones used for alcohol, and ones from MCMMO such as haste potions (yellow) saturation potions (blue) etc etc

There are a few ways to fix this,

1. optifine mcpatcher using their color.properties feature
link
this should work as an easy way to change the colors back, but im unsure if CITResewn supports it and it would force people to use optifine if it isnt supported

2. vanilla core shaders
i am trying to completely understand how these work but they basically just let you change hardcoded colors, such as loading screen(which is normally red) among like a million other things, which hopefully includes changing these colors but would be the universal solution
link

additionally, the server could change these colors on the serverside using NBT tags, which is also how the alcohol get their colors, but its really not that big of a deal, just sorta out of nowhere

ok so i can confirm that for the time being, the only way to get the old potion colors back will be through the use of optifine and a resourcepack, since there are no standalone mods for fabric that implement the mcpatcher color feature
there is still a chance that someone figures out how to fix it in vanilla though, hopefully
