Suggestion Rule 6.1 doxxing

6.1. Don't dox another player (this includes posting their name, image, etc.), even if they have shared this themselves.

The rule 6.1, not doxxing another player seems for the most part a very fundamental part of most servers, being a very important rule according to Loka I believe it's importance should be questioned often and challenged whenever loopholes are found or abused by the community it governs. Viewing this rule at face value for the most part it is seemingly alike many others, however it contains a clause that should be questioned in light of recent events; never share IRL information of another even if they have shared this themselves. This is a problem for a number of reasons I will be breaking down following up with many examples of how it could be misused or taken to attack an innocent player.

Intent. Intent is crucial in understanding the complete scenario when viewing whether someone or something is truly attempting to harm another. There are many situations when someone could reference something involving IRL activities whilst harboring no ill intent towards that person. In the case of two players being friends of one another and posting their face, then falling out with one another and the player whose face or IRL information was posted reporting them for doxxing, should not qualify as a legitimate report in any case. Another similar scenario which is the most probable one; a player could post another persons face while they've knowingly showed it before and has presented no threat with malicious intent there should be no reason to punish them while neither party is harmed in any case allowing for things to remain in order. Diving deeper into why intent matters, it's clear to see that overlooking one's intent at the time of posted information is crucial when punishing someone or possibly even allowing someone to report something else.

Consent. Consent is extremely important while overlooking the many tragic scenarios that could come to pass in cases regarding doxxing. If the player that information has been spread about has willingly showed the information to all parties able to see it, then little should be looked into regardless of whether or not the player remains friends with said players. A similar scenario could be enacted where the player voluntarily regularly shows their face to many people in public spots of their own accord without being coerced in any way, shape, or form. Consent could be called into question in these scenarios where if the player whose information has been sent around or seen by the public if they do not want their public image to be shared with the masses any longer. In this case it is completely fair for those who have or hold the information in their galleries to either delete it or prevent the further spread of, such as sending or reposting the information in other servers or messaging it to server members.

Publicity. The publicity of the information should be considered almost immediately when understanding if a ban should actually take place. There are many scenarios that this could apply to, namely if there is already a made connection between the information that is publicly shared and the player who it belongs to; if this connection is made public by the player whom it belongs to there should be no reason to punish someone who simply posts it again with no ill intent. When the information is shared if the player it belongs to has full control of whether or not they show it, no player reuploading without ill intent should be at fault and banned, in turn ruining their reputation and naming them a harmful player that has doxxed others. If the player whose information is revealed understands how public they are making it and choose to pick and choose certain individuals who they want to punish based off of their relation to them, their ban report should be disregarded immediately if it can be boiled down to something so small.

Understanding all three of the most important aspects of punishing someone under suspicion of doxxing another is crucial, someone who can be checked off of all three of these things in my opinion should be stated as innocent effective immediately. There are many different ways someone can expose private IRL information about someone, however rule 6.1. states through it's clause that regardless of the publicity, intent, or consent of the original player's information there is nothing to be said as it will remain doxxing. I've made clear the many aspects of a ban surrounding doxxing and hopefully brought the reasons a ban shouldn't be sustained if these are all addressed. Several different events have transpired over Loka's history where harmful doxxing occurs and was dealt with swiftly whilst not identifying private information further, however many other cases have come to my attention that have no connection to being harmful in the smallest of ways. Throughout the different rule revises this clause has maintained it's status in the rulebook, so hopefully these very detailed reasonings will convince and help clear the rulebook of something that can be abused by Loka players to enact second hand punishments that cannot be avoided on innocent players that have no part in any definition of doxxing.
