Rules Ignored, Decisions Arbitrary: Staff Inconsistency on Map Arts

Good afternoon,

I logged on the other day to find that several of my map arts had been completely removed with no warning, no message, and no explanation. Just gone after a significant amount of time and effort.

This isn’t just frustrating, it exposes a serious problem with how staff operate.

Direct Staff Contradiction

A few days ago, we explicitly asked Kaph about one of these map arts (a Sabrina Carpenter image) and was told it was allowed. That should have been the end of it.

Instead, today Skuhoo logs on for the first time in 2 years and removed that same map art anyway.

So which staff member are players supposed to listen to?

Does staff approval actually mean anything, or can it just be overridden whenever someone else feels like it?

The Rule Being Cited Does Not Apply

The only rule being referenced is Rule 5.3: Offensive Visual Expressions.

5.3 No offensive speech or visual expressions in-game.
  • This includes usernames, items, skins, capes, builds, etc.
  • Doing this with any item (including Lore Scrolled items) will result in the item being deleted.

None of my map arts meet that definition.
  • They do not target any individual or group
  • They are not explicit
  • They are not pornographic

Definitions:

Offensive Speech: "Language that insults, causes resentment, or humiliates individuals based on characteristics like race, religion, or gender, often overlapping with hate speech."

Offensive Visual Expression: "Any image, object, symbol, gesture, or artwork that causes strong annoyance, outrage, disgust, or moral repugnance in the observer. It is a form of communication that deviates from societal boundaries, often targeting individuals or groups based on race, religion, sex, or ethnicity."

You can walk into any grocery store, open a magazine, or go to a public beach and see far more revealing or "edgy" content than what was displayed.

Mapart That Was Removed

What This Actually Comes Down To

From conversations with staff:
  • Kaph stated this was a “judgment call”
  • Cryptite doubled down and implied content like this is inherently sexual
At one point, the argument effectively became that a woman in a bikini is inherently sexual.

No. It isn’t.

Stop sexualizing women and then using that as justification to remove completely normal content. A swimsuit, a crop top, or standard model imagery is not automatically sexual, and it does not meet your own definition of “offensive.”

Blatant Inconsistency

Meanwhile, the server still contains:
  • Anime map arts depicting underage characters
  • Player-written books with explicit fanfiction (smut)
  • Builds and quests with crude or suggestive humor
  • Lores that have literal porn on them
All of which remain untouched.

But my map arts get silently removed?

This is not about maintaining a standard.
This is selective enforcement.

Public Behavior vs Enforcement

There is also a clear contradiction between what is enforced and what is openly tolerated.

In another forum post, a player was muted for making a joke about “Loka-chan R34,” while at the same time describing a situation where a player publicly shared pixel art lore depicting a naked character (“Berry Wood”) in chat, even directly referencing staff while doing so.

According to that post, this happened in full view of staff and Cryptite, and instead of immediate enforcement, it was treated casually.

So on one hand:
  • A joke or reference results in punishment
But on the other:
  • Explicit or suggestive content is shared publicly and tolerated
That inconsistency matters. It shows that the standard is not clearly defined or consistently applied.

I got muted for asking "is loka chan r34 allowed?" I honestly don't understand how I can get muted for this yet Gimlipop can link a pixel art lore of a naked black dude named "berry wood". I understand he was a guardian at one point but I feel everyone should be held to the same standard. I feel its super unfair that he can link this in public chat and not only link it but say something along the lines of "cryptite look away" or something of the sort. Cryptite obviously knows about the lore yet he allowed him to do that, so then I could only assume making a joke about lokachan r34 is not muteable. I honestly didn't think it would get me muted. I know its not appropriate and I probably shouldn't have said it and I'm sorry to the staff and anyone I might have offended, and I understand I just got unmuted not too long ago. I just thought since like I've seen people make similar jokes, it would be fine. I would appreciate if you guys took time to reconsider my mute and also Ziypie's warning. (Ziypie said "only on the r/lokar34 sub reddit").

The Actual Problem

Right now, the reality is:
  • Kaph can approve something, and Skuhoo can remove it anyway
  • Cryptite can redefine what the word “sexual” means on the spot
  • The written rules are ignored whenever they are inconvenient for staff
And players are expected to just accept it.

Calling this a “gray area” is not accurate.
The rules are written. I followed them.

The enforcement is what’s inconsistent.

Questions That Need Answers
  • How does this specifically violate the written definition of Rule 5.3?
  • What does “NSFW” actually mean on this server, since it is not defined anywhere?
  • Why does staff approval not hold any weight if another staff member can override it without explanation?

Final Point

Right now, this does not look like rule enforcement.
It looks like staff making impulsive decisions and justifying them afterward, while ignoring their own rules when it benefits them.

You're suggesting that merely anime children is against the rules? Why would you suggest this?
Player-written books with explicit fanfiction (smut)
Has this been reported?
Builds and quests with crude or suggestive humor
Has this been reported?
Lores that have literal porn on them
Has this been reported?

if you are old and funny and edgy and friends with staff
(jib, mcdanky)
, you can make lore and mapart that features NSFW content and its funny cuz they are quirky and silly 😝. HOWEVER, if you make a mapart that features a singer's cover art, that is ATROCIOUS and HANEOUS and needs to be terminated IMMEDIATELY as skuhoo's first action as a staff member in MONTHS (😭)

I LOVE LOKA so much and this server is amazing, but staff team what are we doing here. Most of you will read this and just scoff because you think we are just mad we didn't get our way (which is totally fair and has some truth to it), but you guys are so much better than this. All of this isn't going to get us our stuff back, but like you guys should all be on the same page, guardians AND elders TOGETHER. After being told so many yes's and no's by various members of the staff team, i built and broke 18 differnet map art panes and have nothing to show for it.

Proof of this?

It was the only mapart left when the admins went scorched earth on our town.

Proof of this?

We legit watched it happen an hour ago.

You're suggesting that merely anime children is against the rules? Why would you suggest this?

Weird

Has this been reported?

Why does it need to be reported? Everyone knows Jib wrote fanfic? See McDankys Library.

Has this been reported?

Do I really need to report a quest that the staff team created?

Has this been reported?

You legit laughed at Jibs BBC lore in chat.

Ah I meant proof that Sku hasn't logged on for 2 years, not that he was the one that deleted the mapart.
You said it? Did you read your own AI-generated post?
Do I really need to report a quest that the staff team created?
If you feel it is so inappropriate that it warrants mentioning in a forums post, I would say so. But then I don't know what quest you're talking about.

That lore was removed.

If that joke is what you are clinging onto I must have struck quite the nerve.

I did have AI reformat my text thats my bad. I typed that and still think its weird to have people build maparts depicting little kids, if you don't that is all you.

If you feel it is so inappropriate that it warrants mentioning in a forums post, I would say so. But then I don't know what quest you're talking about.
The one about pissing cows. Crude.

That lore was removed.
When?

+1 jakeman, staff need to start being consistent with the decisions they take. And even if you love or hate Sabrina Carpenter none of her cover art is nsfw at all, and most of the loka playerbase is over the age of 16.
