Reason: Town Betrayal

Hello, I was recently permabanned for "town betrayal" now to explain my side of the story and share why my actions are no ground for a ban. I recently left a town on Kalros named Falias, Two other players and I originally started the town, and recruited pre-existing friends as members, Many if not all got sub-owner, Fairly quickly into the start of the towns creation many players started to become inactive, each for different reasons but many have told me they won't return, which left four core players, While I decided to grind for the town and attempt at leveling it up, the other main leaders became extremely inactive; all for valid and good reasons but none the less they were inactive. I have been accused of taking Industry items, Enchanted books, Crafting items (ex. cobblestone into stairs) deleting owner level zones, and creating a tunnel that lead to the outside of the town (under exterior walls) Now to start with the first accusation, As I have said I was the only active member for a period of time, and as so I kept the industry's running and stocked, I did take the items produced, as I think most would, I kept most items in my house as the public storage was not close enough for me to logically use it regularly. (again I was the only one on, while this was happening) Because these items were kept in my house when I was given builder to go and get all of my things, another leader (the one that called town betrayal) opened all of my chests so I could move the items into shulkers, at that point they would have been able to see anything I had and would have understood that I was taking those items. As such I'm a bit confused on why there is a problem with items that they both knew I had and knew I was taking, Items I collected out of industries I kept supplied. The second accusation, taking enchanted books; as I have stated I was trying to level up the town and with that, I was making enchanting books, at the time I had sold all of my diamonds for shards (to supply the town bank) So I was using books to level up because of this I got a lot of enchanted books... duh. At the time I kept it in public storage, A. because it was a bigger space, and B. in case someone logged on and needed something. At the time that I left the town, I took some of those books about two shulkers worth, as again these were books that I had grinded for, I did and still do consider them mine as anyone would. If any books taken weren't mine I do apologize, but as the only one who ever organized or kept track of that storage, I can confidently say most if not all were mine. Third accusation... I have been told that I crafted too many slabs and stairs and with this drained the town of its resources, firstly I did craft items to level up crafting and engineering, I did this because I was told by another town leader that it was the easiest way to level the town up. At the time I did have every intention to go grind those resources back, however, I did completely forget about this when I left the town. Fourthly there were a few zones that no longer needed to exist, (ie. Dec and Tyr's House) on the middle of a hill with no building within its bounds, personally I'm a bit confused on why this is reason to call betrayal as nothing was there and if the zone was that important it can be re-made extremely easy but ok. The last accusation is on a tunnel that lead to the outside of the town, firstly its more of a tunnel system at they connect parts of the town, the date that tunnel was created would have been the night of 2/24/21 or around that time depending on time zones, this topic we as a town already discussed at the time, we all concluded that the tunnels were fine, The tunnels were never used by any outsiders only by me to travel as one leader didn't like the exterior walls to ever be broken. I do feel apologetic that members of the town; people I did consider friends felt betrayed by me leaving; however this is not reason to call town betrayal with feeble reasoning, The items that I took are basically worthless to me and I have no problem helping a town in my alliance if they need those items however this was not the way to go about that in my opinion, they have used the excuse of "we don't talk anymore", however, we didn't talk because they were busy or inactive online. these members knew they could reach out but chose not to, Which is completely their prerogative however if they felt as tho I stole something that belonged to them I was a /msg away and they know that. I do apologize if there are more reasons for this ban, I'm just trying to go off what I've been told by people, as this all has been very confusing from my stance on the situation. Thanks staff for reading this monstrosity.

If all is true in this paragraph, you should get unbanned you were the only one in the town active, and you were just trying to help the town. Its the other peoples fault for not being active in my opinion. However for making slabs and stairs or doing any actions that take up a heavy amount of resources, you should make sure your townmates are ok with what you are trying to do before doing it

+1

I honestly believe that people want to see her downfall. I think personally she wouldn't go through all this to get unbanned if she was guilty. I only was in call with her once and everyone in that voice chat was harassing her, so I want to think that this could have sparked the person to call town betrayal. Her reasons seem likely and valid of running the town pretty much running the town by herself and I think she is entitled to keep what she farmed. Feathers tell you what gets taken out of a chest not what you stole.

+1 lots of things wrong with the town betrayal rule that only benefits full owners of towns and is quite scary as a member to understand and follow.

We are reducing your ban from a permanent one to a 2-week temp ban, which will expire on June 1st.

The original punishment was given because you have another large town betrayal on your record and the scale of this one also appeared to be huge. However, after digging even deeper into it, some of the items taken were indeed your own, which the owner was ok with you taking. There also does not appear to be any malice involved.

After speaking with the town owner many of the statements you make in your appeal are at best contested and at worst straight-up lies. There is an element of he said, she said, but many things can be backed up with block log data and other tools. At the end of the day, the town owner controls all resources in the town and they appear to have been more than reasonable in this scenario.

This is still a second town betrayal offence but we don't feel it's serious enough to warrant a permaban. Please be careful moving forward not to get yourself in a similar scenario.
